Source, Zero chance of Petry waiving for Southern California. Only reason he's been linked to Southern California in the past. Is because his Father Dan Petry former Detroit Tigers 1984 World Series winner is from San Diego, California and he has some family there.

I got anotha rumor. Matheson back to Pittsburgh for Jeff Carter and a conditional 7th Rdr.

The condition being if Carter wins 1 faceoff the pick downgrades to a 10th rounder in 2045.

Why would Anaheim pay a premium for retention? Answer, we wouldn't.

Neither of these trades is remotely realistic to us.

You gotta consider the other team dude. This is not a reliable rumor, if it was even a rumor. ANA is rebuilding with 1 year of suck, and then 1 year of ‘meh’ to go until they’re competing. Teams in that position don’t trade top 40 picks and young prospects for old vets. ANA has an abundance of cap, they don’t value retention. Petry won’t waive for Ana. I could keep going, but those reasons alone should suffice
