Deadline

Created by: Joblow
Team: 2023-24 New Jersey Devils
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 16, 2023
Published: Aug. 16, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I know this is not a popular one but New jersey have express themselves to get bigger up front. They have there offensive force but they are a small group. Adding Meier have definitely help but adding bigger body is key for Stanley cup run. Anderson is under a lot of heat here but he remains a rarity and also a good players. 32 team would like to have a Anderson. Contract is a problem but with the cap that might raise significantly, he will become more affordable. He also fit with New Jersey timeline.
Cap doesn’t work for now but by the deadline New jersey will have the required cap space. Since the cap will ride to 87-88 millions no notable rfa to sign they are just fine by 2024-25

IF Anderson had one year, maybe two, left I could see Montreal doing this no problem. But four years of retention will need more added to it.

Mtl won’t be in cap problem for at least the next 2 season. Contract that Hugues sign formDach and Newhook gave them room. They also have many many players on entry level deal or rfa that won’t cost that much. They can still land a Nylander at 10+ and still have cap space to retain.

I get people don’t like Anderson contract but Holtz did ****all at the NHL level while Anderson score goals, skate fast & hits hard. Yeah he is overpaid. Yeah he can’t pass. Yeah Holtz might have a better career than Anderson. But right now, Anderson is more valuable than Holtz. Yes this trade is bad, not structured at all. Just wanted to make something clear on Josh Anderson the player, not the overpaid 2nd/3rd liner making 5.5M

YOu clearly dont know how cap space works. they are -1.5m. PS Haula has a NTC so he blocks this 100%. Anderson a waste of space. Crouse isnt worth the 4.3m Anderson had one good year and fell off stop trying to think he is good cuz he isnt. Move on from this clownery. We still on this bum to NJ. Man ppl are clueless. PS Mcbain is better and cheaper. They wont have move capspace by the TDL hello the cap doesnt go up untill the 24/25 season. PPS Aves werent big upfront and won a cup stop this BS.

Not sure how a players with almost no nhl experience. Who have shown a very little can be more valuable then a NHL players in is prime. Anderson is much more valuable to a team on a third line than Holtz. Holtz can become something or he could be another one of the many players that can’t make the jump. If you look at is draft years, he might very well be one of them since so many players have already established themselves.

I feel like if you really have to go out of your way to hype up a player, you’re probably pretty wrong. The Devils wouldn’t give Holtz up for Timo Meier, what makes you think they’d give him up for ****ing Josh Anderson lol

The Anderson trade makes the team worse

Trading Casey for Crouse would be a terrible mistake

If i'm honest, NJ doesn't do that Anderson trade for the just 3rd rounder let alone NJ's top forward prospect

Because Value isn't based on the value of a player in just 1 season, its over the course of the years the team controls them and Holtz is supposed to provide far more value in coming seasons than Anderson and Holtz has many more years of team control at a cheaper price than Anderson. If your logic held true, then Anderson would have more value than Bedard because he hasn't played at the NHL level yet but almost any team in the league would dismantle their roster to get Bedard because of the future he is expected to have. Players like Anderson are a dime a dozen and teams aren't going to hand over top prospects or high picks for that

Feels to much like Erat for Forsberg. I'm not as a high on Holtz as I used to be but if he turns into a nothing-burger I think the Devils would still take that and the future/ current cap flexibility over Anderson.

I do like Anderson as a player just not at that cap hit/ length.

And that's fair
Holtz have more value than Anderson IMO
But saying Holtz is a better player right now than Anderson is flat out wrong

Talking about logic when you take a shot at comparing Bedard to Holtz is pretty sarcastic. Each year contending team sacrifice high valued prospect to address needs to make them contenders. New Jersey is a soft team, everyone know it around the league. Tampa had the same issue back then. Colorado had targeted Manson and Lehkonen for a specific reason. Holtz doesn’t have any value if New Jersey doesn’t reach the Stanley cup. They already have plenty of scoring power but don’t have any grit.
