Forgot to mention Flames also decline instantly so Columbus doesn't even get a chance to decline

Why are both Calgary and Columbus getting screwed to help Toronto?

With out looking at the needs of each team the value of the trades are not bad

As per the description Nylander and Lindhoolm both extend so

Calgary comes away with the best player in Nylander for (8 years) ?

CBJ Get the 2nd best player in Lindholm and and 2 solid pieces

Leaf's get a great young prospect 2nd/3rd line center and the NHLs worst +/- player

The problem with this site is everyone thinks 99% of the trade should be declined and add no value to any conversation

Well here's the problems:
- Nylander is not "the best player in the trade" he's at most on par with Lindholm and they are both the best players involved. Both players are on expiring deals so neither could return a player like Kent Johnston.
- Dube is drastically better than Timmins so that makes the first trade very lopsided to begin with.
- Boone Jenner is pretty much a non-starter when it comes to Columbus. He is their team captain and a huge fan favorite.

-Nylander vs Lindholm is debatable but either way does not make a difference in this scenario.
-The Description says both players extend with their new teams so we play wit those rules so Kent Johnston is not out of the question
-I would agree Dube is better than Timmins and the trade needs a tweak here to balance it
-Based on the the return the CBJ are getting you don't keep Jenner because he's a nice guy the fans like.

Columbus sends Calgary a 2024 7th for the chance to decline first...which they do instantly.

Yeah because UFAs signing an extension before a trade happens all the time 🙄. Stop.

Kent Johnson is out of the question. He just had a better rookie season than Lindholm had in his first 3 years in the league, on one of the worst teams in the league, and is 8 years younger. He should be a top-6 lock for the next 15 years.

And Jenner is totally unavailable, not just because he's a nice guy, which is arrogantly, intentionally ignorant. He's our 1C until Fantilli is ready, and arguably the only top-6 capable center on the roster, on a sweetheart deal he took to stay in Columbus long-term. You just don't replace his value, even if you get another 1C back (at about $4-5M more), and trading him would be the last thing Jarmo does as a GM. You don't recoup the value he has to the franchise in any trade, certainly without asking something unrealistic from the other team. Any CBJ fan will tell you he's totally unavailable, and it's not just because we like him.

I'm just so tired of non-Columbus fans saying our unavailable players are actually, totally, explicitly available, and for way less than you'd think!

No, Kent Johnson is out of the conversation for either player even straight up. Age, potential, team control, and contract value are all very big reasons to keep him over either Nylander or Lindholm.

Boone is not just being kept around because he's a fan favorite. He's kept around because he's the core of the team's leadership group and they've lost far too many leaders over the last couple years already between Voracek, Gavrikov, Bjorkstrand, Nyquist, and a few others in the last couple years. He's also 17 games short of setting a new games played record for the Jackets and could end up being their first 1000 game player with the franchise with a little luck over the next 5-6 years. He's a Blue Jacket to the core and means too much to the team. Add to this his clear value as a top 6 center for the team and it's just non-sense to consider trading him away.

Only player the leafs or flames have that would be of interest enough for them to part ways with Kent Johnson is AM34 and that’s not happening so go back to the drawing board

- Players don't come extended, they sign extensions after they are traded. Thus it has no effect on their trade value.
- You keep Jenner because he is the heart of your team.

Lindholm is a 30 year old low level #1 or high level #2 who is about to demand a lot of money for a long time when he is nearing his downslide.

Boone Jenner is the captain with a very team friendly deal.

Kent Johnson is a 20 year old top 5 pick who is getting better every year on an ELC. No the value is NOT there
