If Buffalo is in a push, JJP will be a big reason why. I doubt they trade him for Jenson.

Devils decline. No reason to pay a 2nd for a third pair/extra D

You've retained on too many deals, you only get 3 retention slots

Leafs won't be giving a 3rd for NAK. We lost him to waivers last year. 5th to 7th is the most you will get for NAK from a team. And that's if he performs quite well.

You can only retain on 3 players at a time and can only retain 50% on a given contract. Also, I’m pretty sure Pacioretty can’t be moved due to his performance bonuses and he has a NMC anyway. Doubt he waives it.

Lol
Sabres aren’t doing that

Bottom pair defensemen cost a mid-round pick,
not a good young player
Come on now

You're obviously right about JJ not being involved in any such trade, but how are you arriving at the conclusion that Jensen is a bottom pairing Dman? He averaged over 17.5 mins/night at 5-on-5 and played primarily with each of WAS's 2 best LD (Orlov & Feherevary). Further, he did so while playing the hardest minutes.

He isn't playing in front of dahlin power or samuelsson. Washington really doesn't have a solid defense core part Carlson so that forces Jensen to play more minutes than he should.

While it's my understanding that one of Dahlin or Samuelsson played the right side last year, all three you mentioned are LD. Jensen is almost certainly an upgrade on Jokiharju, Johnson, and Clifton and, as such, also wouldn't be a 3rd pairing D on BUF.

Ok, fine. Then let’s just say that Jensen is a “#4” then
I’m not gonna spend time debating whether or not he is better than Jokiharju or Clifton,
but i will say that he’s not SIGNIFICANTLY better

Certainly not to the point we’d give up Peterka for him
That’s just bananas

I explicitly agreed with that smile I'm merely suggesting that you can make that case without diminishing the value of a quality, top-4 RD by dismissing him as a "bottom pairing D".

I already called him a #4
U aren’t gonna get better than that from me
And that’s not the point anyways
The point is that we aren’t gonna do this trade

Devils dont need or want him plus the devils only have 1.8m in cap and they rather spend that on someone else. they have smith as their 7th Dman and Nemec can be called up at anytime so edmun is a WASTE. All this is a panic trade for no reason.

Of course the trade itself is pretty ridiculous. If the Sabres were trying to add to make the playoffs, why would they trade a roster player for a lower valued roster player+picks?
