Not even close on Zegras let alone all 3

Imagine attempting to trade for Zegras with an underwhelming trade, assume it's something the other GM would accept.

And then proceed to NOT play Zegras -- one of the best pure passers in the game, and I hate the Ducks -- with one of the best shooters the game will see in a long time in Bedard.

I think both organizations are big on their own young players and adding three high picks to go along with Reichel and Del Mastro just seems to go against the way Davidson has been operating.

Look closer at this deal the Hawks are trying to even out the surplus of LD for RD prospects. Zegras >>> Reichel and if you can lock up for 8 for 8 that is huge.

Ducks have a surplus of LHD, arguable the best pipeline of LHD in the NHL. We're not subtracting RHD to add RHD, and we're not trading Zegras, period.

There is no questioning Zegras ‘s skill but I wonder at times if he is more concerned about YouTube clips than actually winning, kinda reminds me of Sonny Milano in that way.

As far as the Hawks players included in your proposal, I have really liked the patience the organization has shown with Reichel and based on his play at the end of the season I believe it is paying off… his future looks very bright. Del Mastro is in my opinion one the hidden gems in the Hawks prospect pool, he looks like he could be the next Seabrook. As far as balancing out the RD vs LD prospects, perhaps we could do that with the high picks you are including in this proposal.

Those future picks if used on RD would not be NHL ready for at least another 3-4 years. Hawks are going to need fresh RD in the next 2-3 years.

They will have $50m in cap space available next summer, go sign one or two to bridge the gap.

The Ducks need RD NOW. We're going to have to suffer through waiting on Luneau, but we sure as hell aren't going to set that time line back by trading him for picks or prospects at other positions.

If you want to throw out something that's semi-realistic drop the defenders from the Ducks side and only target Zegras. Start by changing the Chicago side from the Tampa 2024 1st to the Hawks own 24 1st unprotected. How you want to change it from there is up to you. To be fair, it kind of doesn't matter because Verbeek wouldn't trade Zegras but at least that would be in the right ball park.

Did Zegras demand a trade and say he will only sign an extention with Chicago becasue that is the only way this could possibily happen. Beyond that, his trade makes little sense for either team. Both are in similar spots (with Anaheim a step further into the process) rebuilding and trading a bunch of young players/futures with each other makes no sense.
