I don't see Seattle giving up Wright for a rental. I know theres a first round pick attached, but Wright still has so much potential.

Uh yeah that deal is gosh awful for Colorado and you're going to have to add lots of retention to get us to take Kadri back. Avs decline

Hawks probably decline. Coronato is a good offensive player, but his skating and speed are average at best. Hawks want their forwards to have high end skating ability. Also not sure the Hawks want to add another under 6' guy to their top 6 prospect pool.

Just explain the logic of why COL does that from COL’s point of view because I can’t think one. Rather easy no

This is a wild statement. Chicago takes that trade and runs. The odds of getting a Coronato caliber prospect with a late 1st are not good. Good fit for the team or not you could make that trade then instantly flip him for a higher pick/similar caliber prospect

If you're starting a rebuild it's the perfect situation to develop players like Pelletier and Coronato at the NHL level. Each team only has 3 retention slots I believe you used 4 in your scenario.

The value is quite a bit off on a lot of those trades as well. Weegar at his current contract is a good value, retaining half of it for 8 years($25M) and only getting a 1st back is crazy. I don't think the Flames ownership would make that trade even for 4 1sts. A similar point can be made regarding the other trades, and you're also selling low on both Kadri and Markstrom.

I did say "probably". I'm not saying Coronato isn't a good prospect. I'm saying if Coronato was on the draft board when the Hawks make that Tampa pick, there's at least a 50/50 chance they pass on Coronato for another player for the reasons I stated. Kyle from Chicago has drafted 18 forwards in the two drafts he's run. Every forward under 6 foot tall has been a high end skater. My statements simply reflect my take on how the Hawks GM thinks.

I agree with your point, but in fairness though, Coronato is likely going to be a very solid 3rd liner...not a top 6 guy. That said, a late 1st for a solid 3rd liner is still a great deal.
