Detroit declines. TOR should also hang on to Topi.

You're correct Detroit is stacked on LD, that doesn't mean you get our best one for peanuts!

If Detroit trades Walma
A) doubt it's for a depth player and two meh young prospects

B) It's not going to happen this season

Wallman showed last year that he is a good match for a young Seider, not sure why Wings make this deal now when that is the one constant on the back end that they have starting the season with a revamped d core. Also nothing in that deal helps them now, Topi is a good prospect but Robertson has shown nothing and Jarnkrok is not a fit here, do lineup and history with Wings organization

Detroit is not stacked at LD, and it makes no sense for us to trade a very affordable Walman for that type of return.

All of Detroit's LD at the moment are just prospects. Hopefully they turn into what we want/need them to be.

You certainly don't know much about Niemela. Go look at the list of defenceman who win the top honours at the world juniors and tell me that he's not intriguing

Niemela would is not a meh prospect. Look at the list of defenceman to win the top honours at the world juniors. At the very least he's a top 4 defenceman when he's played enough

Please stop calling Walman "Waldman." Please.

We just drafted our Niemela this year. Good prospect but the trade still doesn't make sense for DET at this point. Walman is our top pair guy playing serviceable minutes at $3.4M AAV.

Trade doesn't make sense for Detroit right now. I think Niemela is a good prospect and Robertson has skill, not sure if he can make it in the big leagues though. Jarnkrok does nothing for us. That said, trading Walman, who was one of our best players last season, would be a big mistake.

I know about Niemela for sure. I am just saying it doesn't make sense to take on these 3 guys for our top LD defenseman.

I get it for sure. I like Walman too but he isn’t much in the way of points. 30 in 140 games so far. He is great defensively and moves the puck well(which is why I like him too) so I get where you’re coming from. Maybe they make a deal for Maata instead.

That makes more sense since it seems like he might be the odd man out sadly unless they run 7D.

yeah take Maatta. A lot cheaper. Granted, it'll have to be after Edvinsson and Johansson are back in form from their injuries.

Likely he doesn't get traded, if at all this year, until the deadline. I have him above Chiarot and Gost on the second pair. Honestly we likely aren't going to trade any defencemen until the deadline at the earliest in my opinion. Right now we have 7, unless Johanson or Wallinder force their hands at camp. Even then they both likely start in Grand Rapids since they are waiver exempt.

I agree with both. Good young RHDs are about as rare as #1Cs. Neither team should make this trade.

Calgary doesn't have remotely enough cap space for that deal

Good point! Would have to add a 3rd team for salary retention to make it work. 👍
