I would rather just, you know, play krebs at 3C and keep ostlund as he is more valuable than bernard-docker by quite a bit.

Ottawa declines.

Krebs isn't an upgrade. Ostlund may or may not be ready in the NHL, and may be a gamble. Sens need a Pinto player now (proven 3C capable of playing 2C). Neither player offered fit this.

Also, while Buf may need some RD, so does Ottawa. jBD is our top prospect at the position. I doubt he gets traded before Lassi.

Interesting trade. Might be more than fair, though doubt if Sens fans like it.

I mean I would want Peterka and that would probably lead to Adams hanging up.

And then you lose JBD on waivers because he's not exempt.

Value wise it’s not bad at all , I think the Sens win slightly but it’s a downgrade this season when the Sens are trying to make the playoffs

Depends how high you are on Peterka tbh. I don’t think he will ever be a 1st line guy

I mean... still think Ottawa is better served just clearing space and signing Pinto (which is what will actually happen), but this is pretty much the only Pinto trade on here that's at least worth considering. Ultimately I'd still decline. Ostlund makes it interesting long term, but in the short to mid term, this deal makes Ottawa meaningfully worse and Buffalo meaningfully better. To me, that kills the deal, Buffalo is the team Ottawa is most directly competing with for the playoffs this year.

First, let's be clear, Peterka is not going anywhere, he will outperform Pinto next year easily.
Second, if Krebs skated with Batherson, DeBrincat and Giroux (84 goals 207 pts) 45% of the time instead of Girgensons and Okposo 42% of the time (21 goals 36 pts) Payton could have exceeded Shane's pt total.
Third, Pinto played 15:59 min/gm v Payton 13:50 min/gm and Shane had 9 PP pts while Payton had only 3 meaning the EV pt difference was only 3 easily explained by the lack of ice time and line mates.
Fourth, Payton hits more (5.4/60 v 3.3/60), has fewer OZ starts ( 47.4% v 51.4) and a better +/- (-8 v -21).
Payton is being groomed to be a 200 ft player, while Pinto may have better offensive stats Krebs has excellent latent offensive skills.
Finally, Ostlund is holding his own against men as an 18 year old while JBD is struggling in the AHL as a 23 year old.

Ottawa should jump at this trade presuming Krebs and Pinto provide different skills, Ostlund is clearly superior to Bernard-Docker.
Buffalo easily passes.

Well that is my penny and a half tome for the week.

Yeah Ottawa definitely wins this deal. But imo on his own , I see Pinto as a 2 way 55-60pt player who will be key in the playoffs

This is a good proposal at least, so much that I am not sure either team would want to do it

From Ottawa's POV, it's the positional needs, they WANT Stutzle-Norris-Pinto down the middle and they WANT JBD as defensive specialist on the right side.

Solution : trade Kubalik for a pick, sign Pinto and start the season, which is more of what will happen in the real world

Quoting: gretzkyghosts
while JBD is struggling in the AHL as a 23 year old.

Can't address everything but I have no idea where you got this... Hockeydb.com?
