Bahl's a top 4 shutdown dman and Timo is one of the best power forwards in the league, good for 40 goals and is top 10 in the league in analytics. On top of that you'd start the conversation with the 2nd or third best defensive prospect in the world who has been a pro since 16 and put up numbers in Liiga that nobody ever has and a first. NOW you want in addition to bahl (probably low 2nd in trade value)
the 2nd best defensive prospect in hockey (probably another 2 1sts)
AND another 1st.

Lets get very real, quinn hughes is not worth 8 firsts of value.

If we estimate the monetary value of a 1st at 6 million (based on the monahan cap dump), that means Quinn would have to play at a 20 million dollar level over the life of his contract to make it worth it

Devils decline both. Love Quinn, but NJD isn't trading Meier for a player we don't need. And Podkolzin doesn't really move the needle.

Hellebuyck to NJD is highly, highly unlikely. Fitzgerald has said he does not like to change goalies mid-season (in general) and has said he is rolling with Vanecek and Schmid (for this year). Hellebuyck is UFA this summer and is expecting Vasi money ($9.5m x max term), its a pretty safe bet that Hellebuyck to NJD won't happen then either.

(Also its a huuuuge overpay).

The only deal I personally would do for Quinn would be built around dougie as the centerpiece a la tkachuk deal. But a trade like that makes no sense for the canucks because they aren't in the trying to win now mindset like the Flames were. Edit, also dougie wouldn't waive

Another Quinn-to-NJD post. Let's be real for a moment;

1) This trade doesn't make sense for either team as-structured. NJD just extended Meier, so I assume they want to keep him. And as good as he is, VAN wouldn't take a winger back as the main piece for a #1 Dman.
2) The ONLY way VAN trades Quinn is in the final year of his current contract after demanding to be traded. Period. End of story. I can't stress to you how important he is to any potential success they might have.
3) Assuming #2 happens, any deal would need to be centered around a potential #1 Dman coming back to the Canucks, so maybe Nemec at that point fits the bill. But it would likely trigger another retool/rebuild phase in VAN.

Canucks decline. They are weak on defence and extremely strong on the wings, trading their captain and #1 d-man for another expensive winger makes less than zero sense. Devils also don't need another offensively-minded defenceman, and they won't ship out Meier retained after they just signed him to an 8-year extension.

I have not once had a bad take. There’s still time for Juolevi to turn it around and become a top 4 dman. /s
