Well a former first overall pick has high value in trade(laf falls into that category because he aint a true bust...prolly just can't handle the NY pressure...prolly would do fine in MTL as one there is less pressure and two it's his hometown where he prolly more comfortable in playing)...

Laf would have extreme pressure in Montreal, because it is his hometown.

2024 2nd
2025 1st - top 10 protected
Ylonen

That would be a reasonable offer for Laf.

His value has dropped quite a bit since being taken 1st overall. He would still have decent value though.

pressure nothing compared to pressure in ny tho....as a ranger first overall we had high expectations for him and plus ny is a tough place to play....mtl isn't prolly cuz ny fans are passionate and mtl arent as passionate or not passionate...pressure has nothing to do with hometown

Think about how much pressure Laf would have if Montreal traded:

2 unprotected 1sts
AND
Newhook who they just traded a 1st and a 2nd for.

That's 2 x unprotected 1st (for a rebuilding team), 1 late 1st and 1 early 2nd for LAF.

He (Laffy) has the value of a middle 6 guy, with a 40% chance of being a 60-70 pt guy in 3 years, thats the value. Newhook does has somewhat of a similar value to that, lower, but similar. So if we are doing it based on Newhook (who has positional plus being able to play well as a center), a late 2nd is probably the max add from MTL

You probably could've made this trade on draft day but lafs value has gone down every day since then. You'd be lucky to get a mid-late 1st rounder for him at this point.

so 3 x 1st and an early 2nd.

That is still crazy talk. Laf will not even come close to that. See the package I created. That is what would be fair. Maybe you can talk them into giving you a better piece than Ylonen but it would be something on the lines that I mentioned.

Ahh, yes. Former Blue Jackets legend Jonathan Quick returns for another 15 minutes of duty. Very good.

We've already traded a first and second for Newhook. Trat would be 3 first and a second for Laffy. I think Mtl passes.

bruh

the 2 1sts are very likely to be top 10s, Newhook was acquired for a late 1st and early 2nd. There's a big difference there, yes Laf was drafted 1st oa but he doesnt live up to it and sure isnt worth 2 top 10s atm.

once again he could play much better in mtl since he is familiar with the environment of the fans....like obv juniors team is much different than nhl environment but still

I know. I just thought it was funny that Columbus was the "any team" after Quick being traded away again almost immediately. Plus the best Photoshop I've seen from a team social account came from that trade with a thank you to Jonathan Quick in a CBJ jersey celebrating winning the Stanley Cup.

If Laf had that value, it would be because of good performances. Then, the Rangers wouldn't quit on him.

lol IMAGINE thinking there’s more pressure on a Rangers player than a Hab at any point in the past century. “less pressure in mtl plus hes from there” LMAO OP do you know… anything about hockey?

I think you guys have sum up what's going on here.
Someone has never stepped out of Manhattan island.
Or read anything 'not NYRangers' related.
