Jets are fine on defense at this point of the season, unless you're offering a top 4D. It's unlikely this interests them.

Jets love the waiver wire, not very often they pay sticker price, especially when they are looking for the 5 through 8 neighborhood of the blueline.

It's not like a 3rd and a 22 year old bottom 6 AHL player is much to ask for a 23 year old former 8OA selection who scored at a 40 point pace.

I’m in agreement, just going on track record of jets gm, and love for bargain bin grinders over skill unless the skill is homegrown.

Then why did they have Kovacevic on waivers. Lost him.

They can’t develop outside of first round, outside of Lowry and helly. Give stanley an every chance possible and let kovacevic go be a regular some where else. Kind of the jets main issue, going to get even worse with these two anchor contracts, could be a record dumpster fire in not too distant future.

Put another way (sarcastically), Stanley is taller than Kovacevic.

They liked Capobianco (who is in the AHL this year) more because of reasons only known to them.

Edit: They chose a guy who now in the AHL (Capobianco) over Kovacevic to be the 7/8 defenseman last year. The Jets spent several years to develop a NHL defenseman only to give him away.

How does Chevy still have a job, and trot out those two fellows on mega awful deals as if it’s a great thing and a shrewd deal, not that they have been drafting great after 17 in the draft, which rental’s probably end up in the 20s somewhere, but still take a random 5/6 names 18/22 year olds this year, than matching 34 year olds on anchor contracts in a few years, with no help in sight. Lots more sweater sales though.

I remember an interview with Chipman (in 2011 or 2012) when he mentioned Nashville as how to build a stable franchise. Poile was there for about 25 years and had two coaches in the first 22 years despite not winning the Stanley Cup. I think the Jets will have Cheveldayoff for years to come.

Craziness, I guess I’m going to have to learn how to get excited about jersey retirement nights, and milestone nights. Just about prefer losing them both for nothing in the summer than there chosen path, at least get back into the top 5 of draft.

I will be hoping for higher than expected cap increases to help minimize the impact of those two contracts down the road. I wasn't planning on cheering for an acceleration in hockey related revenue, but here we are.

I was hoping for a junior style trade off the over agers and 19 year olds for draftpicks/and kids, and tear it down ugly, lineup card tear it down, move everyone with value for first rounders through the next few drafts. Downgrading laine/Dubois, and also trouba down grading, turning too many guys into a lesser cheaper version and keep expecting to contend, is getting tough. I will battle on, and cautiously optimistic, but could see a rather ugly time in the future, with a lot of the talent older, with less term and possibly even downgraded some more. Got to get the draft and develop back into the swing of things. Was kind of cool to see a few guys signed up to stay instead of no chance, but jury not out on that yet.

The Jets might have 3 seasons into those contract extensions before father time catches up with them. Hopefully, the Jets can fix whatever causes a minor season stumble to develop into a freefall. Also I hope the addition of Brossoit is a sign that they will reduce Hellebuyck's regular season workload so he remains relatively fresh for the playoffs.

I’m kind of pumped for those two tenders that they just got out of junior, I think both could be interesting in a few seasons, last few firsts forwards, I think there could be something interesting there also, but nothing truly knocking on the door for a bit. Perfetti is so important, hopefully he can be vital this year, and healthy. We will see at least it’s hockey season again.

I agree. If everyone can stay reasonably healthy and they can avoid that mid-season swoon then this could be fun. On the capfriendly side, I'm glad I won't be glancing at the Scheifele/Hellebuyck ACGMs anymore. lol

Ya no winning with jets and cap friendly lol, cautiously optimistic, but just think they are in rather dire need of a few top 10 type talents to slow down Father Time. A couple dman and couple key forwards and it would be a rather interesting squad going forward. But same as always a work In progress.

If you acquire Boqvist, I say we scratch and trade Dillon. Seems like no matter who he plays with, they don't get anything impactful going. Pionk played way better with Samberg than he did with Dillon. Schmidt played worse with Dillon as his partner.

Boqvist could become at least a second-pairing guy, giving the proper development.

But he's still a smaller, offensive defenseman, which isn't a need for Winnipeg at present, so it's pointless to spend assets on players that don't fill needs.

It's moot now with Werenski out for two weeks and Jiricek up. Apparently they were running 11F-7D at practice today. Someone else will inevitably get hurt tomorrow, too.
