I don't hate it. Arvidsson could be an interesting add for CHI, when he is cleared to play. Albeit, only until the end of the season, but he might be fun to watch playing with Reichel or Bedard.

Yeah that's way too much to give for a rental goalie like Mrazek. They would want to keep Arvidsson and probably only give a 2nd or 3rd + an insignificant roster player (maybe Copley) for Mrazek if they are interested.

I might be missing something but what i see is Hawks retain on a goalie and in return get a goalie having a really tough year only to get worse with Hawks D in front of him, two picks not in 1st round, and a guy who is really good but also listed as “month to month” with a back injury. He can be on LTIR if salary is tight for LA and if not we’re taking $4.25M off their hands.

It seems like this leans in LAK’s favor heavily. What am I missing?

You’re missing the fact that you’d be getting two draft picks for taking on a couple of players who are UFAs in the summer. Why would you not want the free picks?

Why? Unless you think they should overpay for Saros then I don’t see a better goalie option that’ll likely be available.

Hawks don't do this for less than that 2nd. Kings get an upgrade in goal and about $3.5m in cap space to play with. Who knows if Arvidsson is even going to play this year?

Could probably remove the 3rd. Mrazek for the 2nd and Copley. With Arvidsson, LA clears cap for another move and the hawks get a free asset with trade deadline potential. Either way he's off the books at the end of the season so it's zero risk.

LA declines, Arvidsson is going to be a huge upgrade from Laffy. Mzareks stats over the last three seasons show he’s below a .900 goaltender. If we are using small sample size to justify value, the Kings should be able to flip Talbot for two 1st rounders to find their goalie.

Probably because from my opinion I wouldn’t necessarily want those picks. But seems like I’m in the minority here.

Mrazek is playing well right now , but has a long history of injury problems. There is no worries for a rebuilding team like the Hawks eyeing a high draft pick. A Kings team that wants to make waves in the playoffs probably wants someone less risky.

My first thought was big overpay but if Arvidsson is truly done regardless of the playoffs it gets closer, and then I checked Copley’s stats and was like it’s even closer, and there is retention and it’s closer. I still think it’s a bit of an overpay but not as bad as my first thought. Way to be creative.

You’re not getting a 1st for Mrazek.

I’m not expecting one but you’re also oversimplifying. It’s not Mrazek for a first 1 to 1. It’s Mrazek with retention plus taking $4.25M worth of Arvidsson off your payroll. That said, Arvidsson is on LTIR so his salary is technically off the books.

Mrazek.

Ok that makes sense but it’s a false comparison. Talbot and Mrazek is a better tandem than Talbot/Copely.

Maybe, but they're not giving up a haul like that for a backup goaltender.
