It may be early but that doesn’t mean we can’t make observations that’ll totally remain consistent as they season goes on!

Mikkola was a great add for Florida. Playing like a top 4 D and is signed for 2.5 for the next 3 years

Man that roster and cap issue is like playing a simulator on "Very Difficult" setting.

Little to no prospect capital, no cap room, a 1-2 year window, and the only assets other teams would pay a premium to acquire are two of the best players in the league; which are very difficult to find complementary players for.

The only thing they have are those 1st round picks; but whoever needs to make changes is either going to have to part with one or more of those or Draisatl.

You could trade RNH and get a pretty nice blue liner back to help with the defense without sacrificing to much on offense.

I spent quite a bit of time on him: super tough, kinda mean, will block shots all night, but is out of position a loooooooot. Very … like impatient. Kinda like how little kids play soccer. Perhaps floridas system helps him with that aspect, glad to see him do well.

Full NMC thru 2028-29 plus he is one of the few defensively responsible forwards so I do think it would hurt team defense.

Considering the Oilers struggles if they look to potentially miss the playoffs he will probs waive it

As even with him on that team they are struggling defensively

They got McDaivd, Draisaitl, Hyman, Kane, etc for the PK they can move on

A top pair Blue liner is needed for that team someone with pedigree

As maybe making it to where Ceci isnt in the top pair will help them

Imagine Pesce + extension for RNH

And if he comes but goaltending still is a mess in the summer you make a move to address that.

Honestly just feel bad for the guy

He had so much to prove but it was mostly disappointment and now it may be the end of him like Klefbolm

Is the Leafs LTIR defense more talented than their healthy top four?

Muzzin-Klingberg
Timmins-Liljegren

vs
Rielly-Brodie
Giordano-McCabe

None today (not sure why) or Thursday (American Thanksgiving); but loaded up on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday and a handful on Sunday.

Lots of teams have B2B games this weekend.

Explanation on Sportsnet.
Only 3 arenas available, teams returning from Europe, too many games and back-to-backs if the available teams did play, and holiday things.

Apparently as Ricochettii said, only 3 arenas are available (Arizona, Vancouver, Calgary). Vancouver and Calgary are in the US (like most teams because it’s American thanksgiving so teams want to be in the US) and Arizona if they had a game today would make them have 4 games in 5 days

Goalie update.

Grubauer has been pulled from 2 of his last 5 starts after the 1st period; now is out with an injury. Driedger getting called up from AHL; Daccord hasn't exactly been taking advantage of the situation to this point.

Driedger to me is the guy to watch. In FLA he was really good. But thanks to injuries in SEA it derailed him. I think the starting job is his for the taking

Grubauer since he signed that deal meh. Like hes had moments but its like Markstrom never consistent

Daccord hes a backup or a #3 on most good teams.

Honestly one of SEA's biggest mistakes spending on Grubauer and not keeping Vanacek

I guess so. On the Wild's CF page, Ryan Hartman is listed as having an NMC, I thought that was just for his new deal, but it says it was also "negotiated for the 2023-24 season as part of his 3 year extension signed on October 7, 2023).

Guess you learn something new every day.

Yes, you can, you can retroactively add a clause to the final year of a previous contract when signing an extension (really only applies to the off-season extensions that get signed before they play the last year of their current contract)
