So uncalled for, seeing him in tears in the post game presser was really difficult. Easily one of my favorite players in the league, can't believe this is the response he's getting

I wish they would go to the 3 point regulation win system. It's a joke that games decided at 5-on-5 have 2 points awarded and those decided by gimmicks are 3 point games.

I do really like the IIHF system of 3 for Reg win, 2 for OT/SO win, 1 for OT/SO loss and 0 for reg loss, I do feel like it's a better system overall

IIRC Friedman has said in the past that people have run the numbers on this and it makes a negligible difference in the standings between a 2 point and 3 point system

I think this is fascinating. It is by far the most negative and personal I’ve ever seen stl act towards one of its own.

I think there’s 2 parts to this.

The primary and most resounding part is that the blues mishandled the Berube situation. A lot of those boos were for that situation and for Doug Armstrong, who didn't present himself to take them.

The second is that the bar is set high in stl for top performers. The market does not specifically care about extremely flashy offense, they care about effort. Stl rarely has a high paid player. The majority of our team are high effort guys. You can count the guys who’ve gotten ~10% of the cap or more on one hand. The expectations of effort are way higher than what Kyrou provides. Way higher. Like Kyrou is off the scales in the negative direction.

If it weren’t for his contract I’m not sure he’d have been in the lineup a handful of games this season. He would have been watching upstairs.

His agent and the gm are at fault here. He was presented with a contract that puts him in a position to fail. The writing has been on the wall the entire time, plain as day.

It’s probably best that he’s traded as soon as a deal can be made. He will have a good career. I don’t know that anybody specifically dislikes him, but I know for sure they dislike the direction the team has taken. When fans boo during a win, that’s the message.

But if it makes everyone "feel better" about the structure; then there is no reason to implement it if it won't have a huge impact.

When the Blues gave rich extensions to Robert Thomas and Jordan Kyrou while letting Pietrangelo, Perron, and O'Reilly walk they basically rewarded the opposite of what you state is the fans desired team. Giving Berube a roster that doesn't match his style of play then canning him only further sends that message.

I used to respect the Blues as a great rival (as an Avs fan) but the whole Binnington/Kadri fallout and subsequent team issues leaves me with little appreciation for the franchise anymore.

Fortunately, the nhl is a spectacle driven enterprise.

I think our gm showed who he is with Patrick Berglund. I don’t think anybody should be surprised by the Blues being ruthless. The Berglund situation is ice cold, no way to explain it with positive spin. The current stuff is mild compared to that imo.

Berglund was drafted by the team, signed a no trade clause contract. Literally the moment a paperwork error occurred by an agent he was shipped out, was so sad he quit playing altogether. Not many trades in nhl history result in a dude quitting, nor include a dude who had negotiated a clause have it ignored because of an agents paperwork error. I’ll never fully respect our gm due to this. I recognize he’s amazing, but I wouldn’t do what he did.
