Personally, I'd go 5 mins of 3v3, if still tied, 5 mins of 2v2 and if still tied, continuous 1v1...

Playoffs go 4v4 to 3v3 to 2v2 to continuous 1v1

When isles fans want to trade a young defenseman that’s how you know they’re going to be good.

2v2 could be interesting. 1v1 may be hard to watch though as they could never shift off.

I like to idea of 2v1 penalty shots (with shot clock).

1v1 would be fun bc of the ability to pull the goalie... Get rid of the stupid rule that you lose the loser point if you pull your goalie... And it creates a 2v1...

Isn't the purpose of reducing the number of shootouts to have fewer games decided in a gimmicky manner? 3v3 is a 'necessary evil', these other solutions just feel like replacing one gimmick with another

Bring back ties and dump the gimmicks!

Nothing is worse than the loser point. Shootouts and 3v3 make it even worse. At least you earn the point in the tie.
