One problem - Nylander is playing like one of the most dynamic players in the league right now. And Johnny?

Fair if he wants to stay. I wouldn't blame him for wanting to play the open market though, which I think is a real possibility.

JG got his deal after putting up 115 point season and being a Hart finalist. This is a pretty good comparison.

Keep in mind Gaudreau signed that deal after finishing tied for 2nd in the NHL in points, no one would’ve thought he’d fall off this hard

Thanks for the bold and reminder. I think it’s pretty clear who was driving the line who scored all those points. Hint it wasn’t Johnny.

I feel like they’re perfect comparables. I see a lot of similarities to Gaudreau from 2021-22 and before to Nylanders career right now

Could honestly use the extra cap to strengthen it, I’m just too lazy to do it

8x11.34M=82.72M. That means any other team signing Willie for 7yrs is giving him 11.817 per season. Idk if any team will give him that. Is Willie willing to sign to a team that can pay him that and wait years before that team is a contender.

This was also two years ago and the cap is going up a lot - Nylander's extension talks are going to start at $11M

The proposal accounts for the increase in cap. This is the same cap percentage as another dynamic winger got after a 115 pt season. It is about as close of a comparable as you will get. The only difference would be the higher is the taxes in Canada being factored in, which would give Nylander another 800k or so to match the JG deal.

100% you have been calling Willy overrated his entire career and now that he needs a new contract you'll be saying he's getting 11 minimum. The moment he signs whatever he signs you'll be back to saying he's overrated. Typical of this site.

I love the cane fans and bruin fans on here saying Willy deserves to be one of the highest paid wingers in the game. Literally all the cane fans have been adamant that Pesce and him were equal. Just dreaming he prices himself out of TO so you can sign him. It'll be hilarious to see all you goons flip the switch the moment he signs in TO

the pure stupidity of Bostonians will never cease to amaze me. god, you guys are such mouth-breathers it hurts to read some of the sht you say

if you read the description and follow along with the primary school level math, you will see that this is accounting for the projected cap increase of $4,000,000 in the 2024-25 season

And his 74 points last year on a terrible CBJ team?

You're also ignoring the fact that cap structures are also relevant to the team, so that Nylander should get just 60% of what Matthews is getting, or what Marner will get?

Hes worth 10.5 or more anyday of the week, but I'm pretty certain you cant get him to sign for a paltry 60% of what Matthews is getting.

Leafs aren't giving him that. 10.25Mx8= 82M. Any team trying to match the 82M over 7yrs has to pay Willie 11.714 per season. Imo that isn't happening. Willie has never come close to producing like he is right now, he has only once produced over a point per game for a full season.

I’d even be fine spending 11M on him but that’s gotta be the max I think that’s the max anyone would give him

Well you were implying that his production in Calgary was a byproduct of his linemates more than his own ability, so I'm pointing out he put up 74 points on a substantially worse team than he was playing on the year before.

I do not. Johnny wasn’t driving a line who all put up career numbers. A Florida Panther was.

Nylander is a driver

I’m implying that I think William Nylander is better than JG. I’m also just sour that Willie isn’t on the Hurricanes.
