Team: 2024-25 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 20, 2023
Published: Nov. 22, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Hawks begin to get a bit more competitive

With the 2nd pick in the draft, the Chicago Blackhawks select Cole Eiserman

Laine is still young and isn't in his prime yet. He needs a change of scenery and would finally get to play in a big market atmosphere. The Hawks get him for cheap as the jackets can't get him to produce.

even if we were trading Laine, which i doubt we would, this offer would be beat easily

There aren't a ton of teams in the league that have the cap space to take on 8.7 million and wanna take a chance on laine. For sure an underwhelming offer, but I still do think 2 2nds isn't garbage.

I don't want to trade him. Slow start this year but he's been right around a point per game the past couple seasons, just hasn't been able to play enough games. He's only 25!! I still believe in him

Anaheim, for one would. A high talent RW sniper to pair with Leo Carlsson, and were frankly in a better position to utilize him and closer to getting him back to the playoffs.

As a Hawks fan. Pass on Laine. We need 2-way players. He can't play a defensive game if his life depended on it.

Laine is much improved on the defensive side since his Winnipeg days

I still wouldn't call him good at it, and he's still not a 2-way player which is what Chicago is apparently looking for. They need a Toyota, not a Ferrari.

Maybe I exaggerate, but he's not good at it. We can't afford to have players play a 1 way game. We're not deep enough to have a bottom 6 that'll take the defensive assignments and win.

Laine will still cost a 1 late 1st plus and not opposed to moving the 2024 or 2025 late 1st plus perhaps a solid LHD prospect since we have too many. However, if Nylander or Reinhardt make it to free agency, we would be better off with one of those guys.

Kyle O for $4M, I wouldn't touch him at this point for $2.5M and that's assuming we retain half and flip him at the TDL.

Dach is not going to be a first liner, no way. He's putting up some points in the AHL but his game won't translate to play with Bedard. Dach is likely a solid 3rd liner center. AA shouldn't be a center, even though there has been some brief experiments with him at C. Hardman and Guttman are the type of 4th line players you want, both are grinders. Nazar may come up, but i would stick with Reichel on the wing with Bedard. The reichel, bedard and kurashev line is looking pretty good. Phillips has looked good playing on the right side D, and Allan as well. It wouldn't surprise me to see one of them as the RHD player next season.

The million dollar question is if they land Celebrini or Eaiserman in the draft. If they do, you can bet they will be in the top 6 next season as well.
