Caps pass. Fehervary, Sandin, Alexeyev, Johansen, Haman-Aktell, and Edmundson all on the left side already, 5 of which are 26 or younger. No need, rather just keep the first

So let's say both Campbell and Anderson are bought out, that's two dead contracts for what the next 5-6 years?

Caps hard pass. They are stacked at D and Mantha is better than Yloven. The only thing they will use their 1st on is a young top 6 player.

Fehervary is below average, Sandin is good, Alexeyev stinks , Johansen even worse, Emdundson has 1 year left, Haman-Aktell is a decent 6/7th D

Matheson is scoring at a 60 point pace... on the Habs

Why would you buyout Anderson at 2,75m?

Wsh D is good defensively but other than Carlson, provide no offence. which is making the forwards suffer.

Also Ylonen has the exact same point and goal totals as Mantha while making 5m less

The guy has 0 goals 1/4 of the way through the season, it's not unrealistic to think he continues to struggle offensively.

Sandin is also a great offensive weapon. Points haven't come yet this season but he's been unlucky, they will come.

Like I said, Caps are only going to spend assets on a young top 6 guy.

It's less about the players involved, and more about the 1st. Even if the Caps are in a playoff spot, I doubt they use their first. And if they were, it would most likely be on a high end winger for the top 6. I'd also rather have the open cap space this offseason. It's a fine trade in a vacuum, but it doesn't fit with what the Caps are doing.

Jake Allen at 4 mill is closer to a cap dump than he is a 2nd.

Fleury coming off a vezina win at 3.5 returned a 2nd

Who's paying for that retention? You said "Pay a 3rd team to retain 50% on allen).

That 4 mill retention probably costs us another 2nd if we're paying for it via a 3rd party

So we're paying a 2nd for allen at 4 mill
and a 2nd for the retention.

Regardless Allen isn't worth a 2nd at 2 mill either

Devils still aren't paying a 2nd for Jake Allen at 2 mill.
