Team still misses the playoffs forward group is great everything Is not pretty much oilers lite, as for why Pettersson hasn't signed yet, a deal is expected soon, i don't think he wanted the distraction and was waiting to the off-season to re-sign so he could help the team get off to the best start possible, also I think Vancouver wanted to see him get a 100 points again so they can give him his big boy contract, all in all, Chicago is better off tanking for the next few years and build through the draft instead of rushing the rebuild and Vancouver is better off keeping our top 10 C, and continue trying to compete as the window Is just starting to open

Pettersson hasn't extended yet because he doesn't like the distraction of engaging in contract talks during the season. He and the Canucks had talks in the offseason but didn't come to an agreement, so he but it on the backburner once the season started to focus on playing hockey. He did the same thing when his ELC expired too. Had talks with management in the offseason before the final year of his deal, didn't amount to anything. Stopped talks when the season started and didn't negotiate with the team again until the offseason. He didn't end up signing until a few weeks before the start of the season, probably because they had a lot of stuff to work out since they didn't do any talking during the season and get a head start like other teams.

This is still not a playoff team. 3 legit NHL caliber top 6 forwards, plus Reichel and Nazar if they both play great doesn't overcome a still subpar blue line and very iffy goaltending.

They probably aren't as far off as you think. I could have said the same thing about VAN's d-core last year. VAN came back this year with almost the exact same d-core, but now things are just clicking for them. Things can change pretty quickly and your favorite team is a testament to that.

But yeah, VAN matches for sure.

If the Hawks win the lottery again and land Celebrini, there's zero need to acquire Petterson. He slots right into the 2nd line center spot behind Bedard.

Except it has worked… Kane and toews year 3. Also that “dump” you mentioned is gonna be one of the top teams in the nhl in a few years for a long time while your fluke team gets bounced in the first round this year and misses the playoffs next year.

Well you sure did know what button to press to get the haters to come out. Everything I read in the off-season indicated Petterson was more interested in seeing the state of the Nucks before he re-ups then being concerned with distractions. Hawks are still not a playoff team & I don’t know if it is the right time to poach a top tier player from another team yet.
Not intending to slight Peterson but I’m not sure I would give up all those future 1st for him unless I would be damn sure he was the last missing piece of a championship caliber team.

It’s all a cover because him and Nylander are going to make Swedish meatballs together in Chicago with Bedard. That’s the rumour for Blackhawks #1 line next year.
