Description

people need to understand that Jake is one of the best wingers in the sport.

any team that will want Jake isn't trading for him to be a rental obviously. they will trade for him with an extension in place and then move other players in the summer to make the cap work.

this is NOT to suggest Jake is going to go to any of these teams (he wouldn't go in most of this places anyway) it is just to show the value that would be needed to trade for a player of his caliber.

A rental winger is not worth that much, except for possibly the Colorado, Arizona, and maybe Boston packages. The Calgary and Columbus ones are especially bad

oh he is definitely worth that much with an extension, considering his value every team will trade for him extended and then move pieces to make the cap fit in the summer.

Literally every team declines. You are way off. He probably gets a late first, decent prospect, and a solid nhl player. Look at the debrincat trade for a comp

(1) Anaheim doesn't need retention, and isn't going to pay for it.

(2) Anaheim isn't trading young potential All-Stars for a guy we'd have trouble re-signing.

(3) Guentzel doesn't fit Anaheim particularly well unless Trevor Zegras is traded for a #1 RW.

Guentzel is almost 30 and needs a new contract. You’re insane. For example the jackets wouldn’t consider jiricek for Guentzel 1 for 1 let alone adding. Best bet is to trade him for a contender

if he wants to hit the open market he'll probably just stay in pitt trying one last run. don't think anyone is trading this many assets for a rental, and if dubas trades him for a late first and some small deal he'll look like a fool.

Sorry bud, it's not that easy to force "an extension in place". Certainly non playoff teams aren't giving up good young players and picks just to acquire 30 years old Gunetzal with an extension.

AZ hangs up real fast - i like jake love him on AZ (how much of his success is crosby though) but a top 4 D (RFA), a solid G (under good contract for couple years) and a middle 1st way too much for a W thats 30yo start of next season
