I don’t think he is necessarily worth it but I’d ask for a 3rd to retain and trade him out

Hanging onto him for Althing less probably would just make the most sense imo

I've seen habs fans value Kovacevic as high as a 2nd, personally i think a 4th is fine, he's nothing special and we have younger guys that I'd rather see play over him

Fair enough, just curious what do you think double retention would cost, it’s only 1.3 you think someone would do 25% for a 5th?

Until Shanahan is gone nothing matters TML will never win.
As soon as we hire a president with NHL experience and a real NHL plan not this joke the new President would fire Keefe and Treliving and this pathetic power play coach ASAP and build a winning team.
So expect to lose till Shanahan is gone!

A second for a bottom 4 D on an insane contract. To a rival. Seems pretty fair.

Let’s not forget Leafs fans want a first for Liljegren, who is the same type of player, only 2 years younger

Lillegren is a 17th overall pick!
Kovacevic is 73rd pick little bit of difference there hmm ya think?

Lias Andersson is a 7th overall pick from the same draft. Does that mean we could get a first for him?

Do you really think draft position factors into a player's value over six years later? If that's the case, what would you add to Liljgren to trade up for the 2OA pick from that draft?

Just curious, at this point in his career what would Silfverberg provide to a contending team? Haven't really followed him recently

A warm body mostly. He's decently opportunistic, tends to be in the right place at the right time, but that's it.

Honestly if the TDL clock was winding down and we had a retention spot left we'd move him for peanuts, the only cost in trading him away is occupying a retention spot.

I will say this, about 90% on here just want to lose their minds at you and about 80% are insanely bias one way or the other. So if you don't have 8-10 people in the comments telling you how stupid you are, your way off.

Also a real solid defensive forward as well

Like I said before, trading him for us doesn’t makes sense because it wouldn’t be worth it the the minimal return he’d get if any at all

We don't need to keep him either, we have so many young dmen that are gonna need NHL minutes soon and keeping him takes minutes away from the younger guys

I’d ask for nothing at all. If I’m Verbeek I’d ask Silf what he wants to do. If he has a couple teams he’d want to go fight for a cup with, I’d ask their GM and do it for futures

Umm judging that he’s retired it wouldn’t take much

Lilly has been playing 2nd pair minutes & has great underlying numbers, anyone will tell you that, Kovacevic is a 5-6 D with some upside Lilly has a much higher ceiling or else Kovacevic wouldn’t have been on waivers at all

His Defence is the reason i’d want him on the Leafs 3rd line. as for getting minimal value, you either do that or lose him for nothing so why not get a free asset for a guy playing the 4th line for you guys

Kovacevic has been playing second line minutes has well and he also have great underlying numbers.

We can’t really talk about a high ceiling for a soon to be 25 years old wjo hasn’t been more than a bottom pairing D for years

Yeah, that's the point. His draft position means nothing today. Just like Liljegren's. Just like Kovacevic's.
