Canes decline. You're not getting a 1st for a 3C that plays maybe 40 games a year

Take out the 2nd and I still doubt the hawks take Dvorak off your hands

Rumor is that Kent offered Slafkovsky+1st for Holtz and Fitzy declined.

He's outproducing Lindholm and hasn't missed a game all year, only making 2M against the cap too

Don't want Lindholm either, and is still a 3C with a LONG injury history. In Carolina, he may not even be a 3C. You're not likely to get a 1st for him, especially from Carolina. It's just delusional

Not saying it'll be you guys specifically, but given his production, position, and cap hit, he's going to be in demand. Even if the Flames do decide to trade Lindholm (not a certainty given recent reports) there just aren't many forwards available this deadline, much less centers who are easy on the cap. Someone is going to pay for Monahan.

Farrell is good but he's not worth a 2nd. Dvorak has negative value which costs to dump.

Monahan : 35 points, did not missed any games, healthy, 55% in draws, good in all aspects of the game and 200 feet player. You are saying KK, Staal and Drury are better ? Hurricanes should jump on him IMO. You can disagree if you want but I think he would be great help and Brind'Amour would love him.

Not a 1st, not with his injury history. He cannot stay on the ice. That's not worth a 1st. I could see a 2nd, but he's not worth more

He's been the best center on the market this year and also has the most affordable AAV, add in retention and it's even more of a deal. If Monahan isn't worth a 1st then no other rental on the market this year is

I majorly disagree with this. The reason he's not worth it isn't because of his production. It's his known injury history. Looking at other players looking like they're going to be available this deadline, there's players like Lindholm who don't have the lengthy injury issues, or Tarasenko whose been healthier in the last 3 season or so. I understand wanting a lot for him, but the reasons he won't return it aren't fixed by his on-ice production

His injury history far less of a worry than I think those in the outside think. Every team has doctor recommendations and can see the players history. Monahan needed a new hip and got one, hasn't been a problem since. Last year he broke a bone in his foot which happens to a lot of players with full recoveries.

And this year he's been getting better and playing consistently well while being injury free. I get the concern but I think teams doctors would be telling them that the risks for Monahan are the same as any other rental.

Look at how many players stay healthy after getting a new hip. He missed games last year, Backstrom got one and can't skate. Kane got one and he's healthy, ish, but not at his best. There are a lot more cases of players struggling to come back from that than succeeding.

He missed games because of his foot last year, not his hip. Hip is now two years old and is fully functioning. Kane and Backstrom are both more than 5 years older than Monahan and had hip surgery in their 30s, not at 27, very different situations.

Farrell isn't even enough to dump Dvorak. So, adding that 2nd is definitely a no go.

That's what I mean, it's not just his hip. He's had injury problems for years. He's not worth a 1st if he can't stay on the ice. He's had foot injuries, hip, concussions, shoulder. He's another LTIR stint waiting to happen.

Guy was a 70 + game a year player before his hip went and he had to miss significant time. Before that it was the normal bumps and bruises every NHL player goes through. There's only a hand full of players that actually play 82 games a year.

I get your point to make your argument but he's showed that he is back to form this year and I think teams will have to meet Hughes price of they want him

Then the Habs are going to be stuck with Monahan instead of futures that they need. It's very very unlikely he's going to get a first for Monahan

Kings not interested. They're not going to trade one healthy scratch for another, especially considering their recent problem is not enough scoring.

Canes have no interest in Monahan. They need more 5v5 offense, and there are better options that are less injury prone that will do a better job at 5v5 offense. Canes already have an elite PP this year, and Monahan wouldn’t be getting the PP1 time that he has been getting.
