First of all, EDM says no. Second, if that was all it took to get Jiricek, EDM would just forego the trade with PHI and offer that to get Jiricek and secure their future at RD.

Let’s put it this way - *IF* Jiricek were to be moved, it’s going to be for a package bigger than what PHI got for Gauthier.

This ain’t it.

I love receiving trash for a true #1 RHD prospect who can play at an NHL level at age 20 smile smile smile

It is my favorite part of this website smile smile smile smile

He’s definitely on the move just because he said one thing to the media about wanting to be in the NHL smile smile smile

Risto is going to require retention to even get that package.

And at the same time Risto gets a positive return while being overpaid by a lot, terrible and has term.

If I were the Avs, I'd be very tempted to take that. Can you tell me why Frost has been scratched so much this season? Just Torts being Torts or has Frost earned his time in the press box through poor play or effort?

Torts being torts, and you had both brink and foerster really fighting for spots. Brink, as a rookie started to tail off and Cates went on LTIR, so once Frost started to play (and his above .5pts a game) he looked real good.

Frost is worth more than a 1st, and I think its actually a cheap offer (especially with taking johansson as a cap dump)

I like Frost but feel like the ask here is a bit steep (though I see in the comments that you disagree). I'm just a bit concerned that his consistency hasn't really been there.

If I were negotiating for the Avs, I'd have to do a deeper dive and would probably ask for a third back here.

I agree the value is there for the Avs, especially with Philly taking RyJo (whom I'm assuming they just buyout). They don't trade 1sts but, in this case, I think they'd have to strongly consider it.

If Philly is taking RyJo and the Avs are getting a player that is a better fit at half the cost of Joey, I think that's pretty fair value for a late 1st.

So do I but with Behrens included I think it's a little out of balance toward Philly. Just my opinion.

Yeah, I think the case can be made that a 1st is enough for the difference in salary and cap hit next year. I would just be desperate enough to get Joey off the books to toss in a little more; maybe not Behrens but something a little extra for the trouble.

You could take Johansen out then and I would think COL would still do it.

A late round 1st is a crap shoot and Nehrens while a good prospect is no sure thing, Frost meanwhile has put up over .5 pts a game on a bad offensive club.

He is worth more than a 1st, and while he might not be worth a 1st and Behrens, including Johansson weights it back to COL side IMO.

Yeah, I think it would still work but I'd try to get rid of RyJo if I can. If I were the Avs, I might offer to retain $1M to entice them simply because that would cost less than a buyout which is, IMO, what they should do if they can't find a taker. Then, Philly could still flip him at 50% retained this year or next; $1.5M would be far more palatable for a team in need. Or, Philly can buy him out at $3M and it would cost them less plus Nashville would pay half the buyout cost.

If you get a guy like Frost on a reasonable contract, I’m not opposed to keeping RyJo as the 4C, situational face off net front guy.

You aren't the first person to suggest Joey at 4C but I can't see how that works; Bednar likes his 4th liners to be quick to the puck, play a bit physical, hard on the forecheck, etc. That does not sound like RyJo and spending $4M on a 4C is tough to swallow. I know it's only for one year but I'd be really reluctant to do that.

Bednar plays his 4th liners 8 minutes it’s for the stretch run that gives you the best chance to win, I’m not really caring about the cap hit as long as they are compliant. Plus a 4th line of RyJo Parise and Cogs is really interesting and I’d like to see what they look like on the ice together.
