Team: 2023-24 Buffalo Sabres
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 5, 2024
Published: Feb. 5, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Trades
1.
BUF
  1. Jiricek, David
Additional Details:
Apparently unhappy with playing time, he's a projected elite top pair guy can come play top 4 mins immediately in Buffalo
CBJ
  1. Östlund, Noah
  2. Savoie, Matthew
Additional Details:
Two skilled centres. Savoie an offensive beast, Ostlund an elite two-way guy
2.
CHI
  1. Bryson, Jacob
  2. Olofsson, Victor ($2,375,000 retained)
  3. 2025 4th round pick (MIN)
Additional Details:
They can try to squeeze more value out of Olofsson at TDL, play him top 6 in Chicago and you can probably end up with a 3rd minimum for him. Give them an RFA D man with some experience, they wouldn't need to qualify him in the offseason

To get Jiricek it would take an elite level player coming back, so probably Power or Benson.

Agreed - at this point, CBJ would need it to be more along the line of D-for-D. I’d be asking for Power.

Not to mention, CBJ should be careful drafting so many smaller Fs, particularly with Dumais a likely T9 guy in a few years.

I think Brindley is more likely to be a Jacket in a few years than Dumais, but the point stands. There’s only so much space for little guys on a roster.

If Power’s the return, I’d do it. I might even add something small. OP can play on his off hand reasonably well and he’s another Wolverine. Otherwise, nah.

Yeah i agree, Power would be the expectation. I added Benson more for another example of the caliber of player we would need to make the trade.

Hawks probably decline. They don't need another 4th rounder this bad. Olofsson won't play on a line w/ Bedard, so he's not increasing his value playing for Chicago. Bryson is worthless. Rather keep Tinordi.

It is far too late for Olofsson to restore any value before the TDL which is less than five weeks away. Hawks decline.

if the sabres offense's true level is closer to what it has been this year instead of last year, theyre going to need both ostlund and savoie to be secondary contributors.

They need to just draft and develop their own top 4 rhd.

Buffalo has zero interest in trading Power for Jiricek; it would be a completely lateral move at best for us.

Buffalo declines the Chicago trade as its literally Buffalo giving a 4th rounder for no apparent reason.

If Savoie doesn’t get hurt in training camp,
it’s likely him on the Sabres right now instead of Benson
He’s not less of a prospect by ANY standard

That’s probably true
Sabres did him wrong imo
Idk why our coach hates him so much???

Someone is gonna sign him relatively cheap next year & he’ll be a bargain for them

This insane- yes, INSANE- idea that u guys could get a guy picked 1OA for your UNHAPPY young defenseman is just so ABSURD that i can’t even find the proper words to say how ridiculous the idea is

Baffling guys, really?

Which i already explained….
Savoie isn’t an NHLer at the moment bc of his talent,
it’s bc of an injury

OK then I guess you DONT have to trade FOR a guy whose trade VALUE is higher than GAUTHIER, and the ONLY way YOULL get him is to pay the PRICE for a guy who, UNLIKE cutter is already under A contract.
