The leafs dont need bottom pairing defenders

Savard is certainly a type the Leafs are looking for however Shenn was traded for a 3rd last season, zadorov a 3rd and 5th both on expiring deals. Savard has one year left at 3.5mil so one can say hes at least worth a 3rd + due to the extra year. Savard is worth no where near a 1st rounder. History tells us if he moves and im not sure the habs want to move him. He will get a 3rd and another later pick or a 3rd and a prospect.

Savard isnt half as good as either of those guys and they were more valuable because they were cheap.

No thats wrong Shenn was cheap but Zadorov makes more then Savard at 3.75. Also saying Savard isnt half as good as Shenn or Zadorov is also way off. He might not be as good but half as good is a wild claim. A player half as good would be playing low level pro somewhere.

If the Leafs don't want to spend a 1st on Tanev, there is absolutely no way they want to spend one on a much much much worse player

Schenn and zadorov were much much much bettet than savard when they were traded by literally every stat you can find except shot blocks which is utterly meaningless with the amount of chances and shots savard allows. He is the worst defender on one of the worst defensive teams in the league. Every single habs player has better defensive results when he isnt on the ice.
He is washed as washed can be and he's just getting older and worse

The Anaheim trade is certainly right on value but unfortunately, wrong on fit -- Los Angeles is the SoCal team that needs LhD, not the Ducks.

Savard isnt the type of defender the leafs need because he sucks. Reaves is a big tough right shot too, but he's not what they needed either, the leafs need good defenders not bad ones.

Half as good is a major concern. No way a player half as good as Shenn and Zadorov are even in the NHL. It My example was Savard with the extra year would be worth what Zadorov got earlier this year so in fact the Savard example is cheaper. Paying the same and getting the extra year. I DO NOT THINK THE LEAFS SHOULD TRADE FOR SAVARD. Savard type of player =Tanev, Tanev is a better version of Savard but the Same type of player and every insider in the hockey world has the Leafs involved in aquiring this type of player. Its ok to disagree with Leaf management about acquiring this type of player, u wouldnt be alone. However every hockey insider has the leafs in on A Savard Tanev shenn Gudas Edmondson type of defender. I Dont 100% agree with limiting to just these types of players nor do i think any of these player outside of Tanev should be a Leaf Target.

Nikita Zadorov, was traded to Vancouver earlier this season for a 3rd and a conditional 5th, he's been traded 4 times in his career and never gotten a first round pick. Who are you thinking of?

Wel that's kinda the point isnt it? People think hes good because he used to be good and now he plays don cherry style smash over substance hockey. He cant stop a rush, or a cycle or a pass. He's incredibly bad but he cross checks people and stands in front of shots so people think he defends.
He's very much like chariot, terrible all around in the ways that matter and tberes probably one gm who binged rock em sock em 8 on coke last night who might over pay for him.
Insiders have connected basically every name defender to the leafs for the past 20 years, not just the bad gritz n hitz types
