Byram or Girard have to be going the other way, right? This makes no sense

Why? You need D depth for a deep playoff run. A top 6 of Makar, Toews, Byram, Girard, Manson, and Walker is pretty good and they have enough depth pieces with Jones and JJ to fill in for injuries

edit: well, good call, just not part of this deal

Could see a first and good prospect if Johansen is heading there

I mean for PHI, who are also playoff bound. Whether they like it or not

I dont think they are serious contenders. Most likely they will have an early exit and a 1st may be more valuable to them long term than a higher chance at winning a round or two

No. Walker isn't worth either of them straight up. I like Walker but he's had one good season and is approaching 30 as a rental. Girard and Byram are younger and at least equally as good respective LD.

Didn't mean straight up, but Walker + for one of those two. But I guess not, seems just for a 1st

Colorado should have gone for Henrique/Carrick. The defense is fine, the center line has no depth.

Yeah I think even Friedman said this week he didn't understand why Colorado would be interested in defense. I agree that Walker is a solid 2RD, but not worth a late 1st even in a weak draft.

1st and cap dump Johansen for Walker. They can now make another move for a forward

I dont think they are done making moves, I expect they will add at C before the deadline

Henrique is kinda slow and would have the same issues as Johansen. It sounds like he is going to EDM anyway

Carrick has bad underlying numbers, I think there are way better 4C options

Seems like a dumb, unnecessary move for the Avs.

PHI always planned to be sellers regardless as, whilst this may not be a 'fluke', they also know they aren't genuine contenders.

Johansen is reportedly apart of the deal for Walker (he went straight to Philly’s waivers)

They're not pushing for a deep run, so likely they'll use their small time in the playoffs to give the young guys a sample of playoff hockey.
