From Last to Playoffs

Created by: Irvine80
Team: 2024-25 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 10, 2024
Published: Mar. 10, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I am in no way a Blackhawks fan so I assume that I missed a few resigns that should have happened. However, assuming these contracts are hopefully at least close - this would no doubt be a playoff team.

Lots of added toughness around Bedard

lol. CHI is NOT doing that. That is a ridiculous ask for Tkachuk and Chychrun. I wouldn't even give CHI's 2024 1st alone for them, honestly.

Tkachuk & Chych def worth two first and a second with a highly touted prospect and a forward mid-bottom 6 forward

If Tkachuk became available I would make a ridiculous offer though.

How is that insane? CHI is rebuilding. There is no point in paying this kind of capital at this juncture in said rebuild. OTT isn't worth they hype around him or what OTT paid for him and neither is Tkachuk.

I recommend sticking to TOR ACGM's, bub.

Why? There is no reason for CHI to do that. Especially not with our own 2024 1st.

6'4 225lb Power Forward with an unbeleivable amount of grit and character while also being virtually a point per game player at 24 PLUS 25 y/o Chychrun. This is only upside

Well, think of the position Chicago is in. Would you trade:
-Your future 1st D (Korchinski),
-An NHL regular with term (Athanasiou),
-Macklin Celebrini (2024 1st),
-33rd OVR (2024 2nd), and
-likely a top 10 pick in 2025

...for just two star players? One of which is a UFA next summer, the other is a UFA right around when Chicago would be good again. Neither of which fit very well age-wise with Bedard's prime years. Chicago knows how to build a dynasty, and making trades like that ain't how you do it.

That's what I said last summer about the Blackhawks and Bedard.

Ok, meat head. I would still take Demidov, Lindstrom, Catton, or Levshunov over Tkachuk. We are rebuilding. There is no need for him.

I agree here. My money is on Buffalo for Quinn or Peterka + 8-9 overall

I'm saying still not a playoff team. A lot better? Yes. Top 8 in the west? Nope. The top line is sick for sure. But the rest of that forward group is pretty average. Blue line is ok. The only two good defenders are Dillon and Murphy. And the goaltending isn't playoff caliber at all. As for the trade, I'd love to get Brady, but if the cost to acquire him is significantly more than the unprotected '24 1st, Hawks should pass. No chance the Hawks make that deal as proposed. This idea is fun, but not a realistic path for the Hawks to follow.

They aren't worth the #1 or top 3 pick in the draft and Korchinski let alone another late 1st and 2nd...give me a break! This is a comically bad evaluation of value.

Furthermore, Vlasic is an absolute stud 1st liner, literally ranks top 5 in the NHL in the defensive zone and you don't even have him in the lineup? WOW

Hawks aren't going all-in next season, they are tanking again next season, but even if they were, this roster may not make it to the playoffs let alone get past the 1st round.

For Tkachuk? That seems a lot more reasonable. But I doubt BUF would do it.

I would also consider Jarvis , Peterka, Perfetti , Lundell as main pieces. But depending on the level of the young player determines how much more it would cost

Oh ok. Yeah. Tough heart and soul players can be useful. But, the Tkachuk's kinda seem like over the top head cases. So, I am wary of bring guys like that into the fold. It's possible I misjudged them, though.

- Athanasiou is a pure cap dump, I wouldn't pick him up on waivers. He's awful outside of his speed.

- Chicago's 1st is not guaranteed to be 1st OA

- Sens don't even need or have a spot for Korchinski (they already have to trade Chychrun), he wouldn't be targeted

Let's say Chychrun gets Korchinski + 2024 2nd round pick (CHI) (+ Athanasiou dump)

It becomes Tkachuk for 2024 1st round pick (CHI) + 2025 1st round pick (TOR) (which would be late)

Not as outrageous as being portrayed in this thread. Ottawa 100% is not making that if the pick is not Celebrini

But 100% agreed that the Hawks should not do this and try to rush their rebuild. Both teams don't and should not do it (Sens only if it's Celibrini and if they could target a piece other than Korchinski)
