As a Hawks fan, we're very excited as well. He's really our only high end RHD prospect in the entire system. Well keep him!

Makes sense! The Wild have literally nothing in the cupboards for future RHDs either - which is why I want Rinzel so badly.

Just promise me your squad will let him play another year or two with my Gophers!!! 😆

Fair offer but Hawks decline. Rinzel to me is the heir apparent to the 2nd pair RD spot when Murphy's deal is up in two years. Another year at MN, a year in the AHL, and hopefully he's ready for prime time.

I'd love this, but CHI has very little reason to do this.

I honestly hope they do! I hate rushing prospects. Especially for a Hawks team that isn't very good. Allow the kids to properly develop.

I concur with exo... He's really the only high-end RHD in our system, so we'll want to see how he works out.

Gotta say, though, I recently saw him in a few college games in the latter part of the season, and he surprised me. I kept hearing that he was "raw;" "years away;" "needs to learn his position;" etc, etc, etc... Yet what I saw was a big, fast, composed, and confident D - IN HIS OWN END. He made mostly good decisions, even when stressed or pressed by multiple attackers in space or on the boards.

At the offensive end is when he seemed not to know what to do as much - especially when carrying in the puck. He seems to WANT to carry the pick in, but isn't sure how that works - yet.

So, my guess is that you'll have him in Gopherland - for at least another year. When he turns pro, too, he'll likely then also benefit from a year or two in the AHL before coming into the big league.

As a low 1st round pick, the Hawks gambled a bit on his raw potential. They knew he was going to take time to grow his game. Yet it increasingly seems as though the gamble may be VERY worth the risk in the long run.

Enjoy watching him with the Gophers! Cheers

And Jones is locked in at 1RD smile

Hoping you guys don’t draft a RD

Oh, I very much hope they do! for Rinzel to be the only legit RHD prospect...they need to get deeper at that position.

Unless your hoping this so we don't take Levshunov so OTT can draft him!

I can definitely see the Hawks using either the Tampa Bay 1st or their own 2nd to pick a RD. Maybe players like Mews or Elick? I'd personally be fine w/ Leshevnov if the Hawks don't get Celebrini, but I just feel like that Hawks 1st rounder is getting used on a forward. And yeah, Jones is likely the top pair RD for another 3 seasons at a minimum.

Celebrini , Demidov or Lindstrom
Jiricek or Elick

Could be huge

It drives me absolutely nuts that the Wild’s dip**** owner, Craig Leipold is going to watch the Blackhawks build TWO dynasties through the draft because they were prepared and patient…while his Wild enjoy 10-15 more years of mediocrity!

The knuckle dragging meathead faction of our fanbase hates the rebuild and are actively calling for Davidson to be fired yet they'll be the first in line at the next parade. It's unreal!

RHD is by far the thinest part of the Hawks prospect pool with Rinzel the only guy of note at this point that has any chance of more than a bottom pair filler. Barring the Hawks diving into the UFA market for a guy like Pesce or Montour and even then probably having to take a RHD with their own 1st, I don't see any reason the Hawks would give up on Rinzel as his development has been exactly what you hoped for when they took a bit of a flier on his raw skill package 2 drafts ago. At a minimum, there would need to be something WAY more compelling than another pick in the middle of the first which at this point kicks the can down the road 2 years further from getting a guy that can help in the NHL which at some point is the reason you start a rebuild. The conversation would need to start with that 1st & Spacek and again that probably only gets listened to if they have taken Levshunov at 2,3, or 4 if they don't luck into Celebrini.
