A 1st and 6 other pieces of scraps isn’t getting Necas. Suzuki or Caufield can potentially start talks, but it’s unlikely anything else starts the conversation for Necas.

That's a little random but the Hawks probably should take that

He's Luke Richardson's guy
He unlocked his game and helped him transition to a Leadership Role.
After that Kovy became Consistent and his game reminds me a lot of Edmundson back in the 2016 STL right up until his 2021 SCF run with MTL
He's someone who could become more especially under Luke Richardson

Sold! I like Reese Johnson's grit but he's a replacement level player.

For Necas?
Thats a big unlikely
Not trading a nearly Point Per Game All Star for Necas
I like Necas and Caufield value is a reasonable ask
That said i'd rather Caufield at the end of the day
Just like you'd rather Necas.

I just dont see MTL targeting Necas unless he falls out with CAR and a horde of people line up
Then maybe i guess i could see it , but really why bother given the Cost?

If im gonna overpay for anyone it'll be to Reunite either Caufield/Zegras or Lafreniere/Roy(actually live together )
Maybe as part of a 3 way deal where Necas goes to NYR and Lafreniere to MTL and then MTL might give up Caufield to CAR in a much bigger deal to find balance
But 2/3 players are in places they want to be while Necas is at his William Nylander moment where hs has to decide if he's loyal to the builds Vision in CAR or if he's just biding time to UFA status to get to a team where he can be a true #1 undisputed player

I find it unlikely
So i'd say MTL is out of the Necas business.

Considering Necas has outproduced Caufield every year of their careers, and only has 3 points less in 3 fewer games this year, I'd say it's fair an ask from Carolina for Necas starts with Caufield. Montreal may not want to, and that is their right, but this doesn't get close

Nowhere did anyone say anything close to whatever this who bit was about .
I just said Suzuki's out but Caufield value wise i'd consider but i dont want Necas
While i see his value and i might move Caufield in a bigger trade

Necas isnt someone i see MSL prioritizing and he 100% has his favorites with a single flaw as a coach
MSL is all in on 2-3 players at a time the rest get delegated a lot of the time to other coaches primarily
While MSL still deals with all his players and they love him its Suzuki, Slafkovsky and Dach he prioritizes above the rest
With good reason too just look at their progress

Never said i wouldnt pay Caufield for Necas just that i didnt want Necas and a 3rd Party would have to be involved.
I think you're misunderstanding WHY i dont want Necas and its simply he doesnt fit our systems needs
Nor are we going to pay him more then Suzuki as Players , Coaches and Management Committed to building a contender of Peers and did it Publicly.
Just too many reasons why.

Where as the reason i suggesting Lafreniere is he's one of the rare players who would take less in MTL while thriving to be the Damphousse of this Era bringing home Cup #25. He just fits our needs a lot better in many ways while NYR is a Star Studded team with Tons of Fan Fair without a fraction of the media negativity MTL Players endure. It just made the most sense if Caufield was heading to CAR in any scenario from MTL POV

Also if i thought this trade was close or liked it we wouldnt be discussing Caufield would we?

Yep. I agree with @SlickWilly. CHI accepts. Unless they are feeling really good about Crevier taking some steps next season, I think CHI is gonna need to bring in a more solid RD to supplement Jones and Murphy.

As far as "being Richardson's guy", that is not true. Kovacevic didn't even join Montreal until after Richardson had already become CHI's head coach.

All I’m saying is that the Canes aren’t going to move Necas if they aren’t getting someone of equal value or better in return. The Canes are in win now mode, so they don’t have a need to move Necas, so they would obviously be looking to acquire a roster upgrade in the event of a Necas trade.

The only way I see the Canes moving Necas for futures, is if the overall value far exceeds what Necas’ current value is. Futures that don’t help the roster compete for a cup and might only have an impact 2-6 years in the future just wouldn’t be good value for Necas.
