Matheson is putting up more points at half the cost, don't want PLD, don't need PLD.

hawks certainly consider that. Colton looks good in the AHL but is unfortunately as injury prone as his brother.

Why on warth would montreal use a blue chip asset to get a guy like PLD they don't want for free ? Also harris is way more valuable than a lousy 3rd, and why exactly is montreal adding a 2nd if barron hold the same if not more value than dach

That is probably fair for Dach, but I still think moving him would be a mistake.

If that deal is offered, Hawks should accept.

Dach is likely nothing more than a 3rd liner and even though we lack forward prospects, Dach does not have the tools to be a top 6 impact player. Hawks would take this in a heartbeat is my guess

I disagree. He plays a very desirable style. I think he has the tools to be an important player no matter what line he ends up on. But I do think he has the tools to be a top 6 power forward, especially if he finds the right chemistry with another player.

His concern is like this brother's, injuries and not knowing how to be physical while protecting himself in the pro leagues. Could he be a top 6 plug as his ceiling, yes, but we are thin at forward prospects and that would be the reason why in my opinion not because he has the projection as a top 6 impact player on a contending team. He's more a 3rd liner IMO which are not guys that I believe are irreplaceable. I'd be more then open to taking a young RHD player with upside and former 1st rounder plus a 2nd rounder in exchange for Dach who probably isn't worth much more than his draft position when he was taken in the 2nd round in 2021.

I get the concerns. But like I already said, I still think he has possible top 6 upside AND I think that, no matter where he ends up in the lineup, he will play an important role because of that desirable gritty net front 200ft game he plays. The way he plays is not really replaceable, there aren't many guys like him in the league. You could certainly put a 'dime a dozen' forward in his spot and probably get decent production and physicality out of them, but you won't get the same character. He has that 'clutch' aspect to his game where he can elevate himself in big moments and that kind of character you like to have around when you are playing meaningful hockey. Hockey isn't just numbers, after all.

Also, his injury this year was not his fault in the least bit. It was a dirty play where the dude grabbed him by the neck from behind and slammed his head to the ice, and the injury after that was lingering symptoms.

All of that said, those kinds of players usually don't last very long in the league. They have a few good years to really make their mark, and his few good years will probably come before CHI is ready and end when they need him most. I just think a lot of people underestimate his abilities and what he brings to the table. I have a feeling he is going to be one of those guys that we sell low on and then everyone is calling for KD's head when he turns out to be really good.
