Taxes in Ontario are higher than the state of California, Zero chance in hell of Matt Roy signing for 4 x $5,000,000 try more like 5 x $6,000,000 and I seriously doubt he signs with any Canadian team.

Why do the Hawks take Kampf? And that is even if they consider Lilly & Robertson to be useful parts in the rebuild.

Having a 20 man roster, and two guys Cowan and Minten shouldn't be on the the team in October
Some so called Leaf fan just can't get their head around spend 15m on 3 UFAs. Two yes at maybe 10m

I don’t think taxes are that big a deal and California has very similar tax rate to Ontario

Not true, That's why most Americans want out of Canada or aren't willing to sign there. Is due to the high tax base in Canada. Most will play in no tax states first.

Due some homework; you’ve been catastrophically wrong many times before…California is not a no tax state. Some will play in no tax states but given the number of great players (& FAs) in Canada and regular tax states - your use of the word most holds no water

laugh You do some homework, I never said that California is a no tax state. Their tax rate is 11.5% Ontario's high tax bracket is 33% meaning that most players who play in Toronto will lose 1/3 of their pay to taxes. All I said is that most American would rather play in no tax cities like Florida, Tampa, Dallas, Nashville, Las Vegas and Seattle then Canada especially Toronto who has the highest taxes of any Canadian city.

This tax bs is hilarious, although hey I’d rather be in Cali than Ontario if I’m playing that level it’s not because of money…dude you and the others get your facts straight…check the tax returns of Matthews and Marner etc…loopholes, special considerations etc…have a beer on me…tax free

Austin Matthews would disagree.
I live in Ontario; you’re clearly mixing up federal with provincial tax rates. So like I said do some homework before you spout off

laugh Funny because the last time I looked, Matthews is in trouble with the IRS. Using him isn't a good example.

Ya good one, the mighty IRS, what a team! Also they are the US not Canada

Never mind the tax issue -- the market value for Matt Roy should be around $5.5 million x 5 years

In the USA, there MIGHT be a difference in what player will pay in taxes between state to state. But it more than foolish if a person looks at personal tax rates are what players pay.
I'll repeat what I have said before. MLB and NBA players seem to have no trouble signing with the Toronto or even been traded Toronto. But the CapFriendly tax experts think is such a big thing .

What is the logic, that players playing in Canada pay such tax rates. Just understand the Canadian tax code.

Just how MoSneider makes stuff up to win his argument......He says California tax rate is 11.5% and Ontario';s 33%. What a lie, it's 13.4% at its highest in Ontario

Hawks decline, Liljegren at a minimum is the price the Leafs would have to pay to get the Hawks to take Kampf’s contract. The Hawks would probably pass on Robertson as they need to add size up front and would prefer someone more reliable health wise, so they are not getting any value for the 2nd round pick you are asking for.

If the league truly wanted to even the playing field they would make the cap hit after taxes, they would have to adjust the overall cap accordingly. This would eliminate the big advantage Florida and other low tax states have.

Your getting carried away with the Kampf contract worth Lilly. Lilly is worth at least a top10 2nd round pick and i'm being very conservative.

Kampf is a cap dump with 3 years left at a $2.4M cap hit and a total of $7.2M owed in actual salary. So, even if Lily is worth a "top 10 2nd round pick", that would MAYBE be just barely enough to pay for taking Kampf's contract. But I doubt CHI would be an early 2nd for Lily. Robertson isn't worth anything close to a 2nd round pick. So, what is CHI sending a 2nd round pick for? At the absolute most Robertson is worth a 3rd, at this point, and even that is probably a stretch.

The captain of no one wants to play in Canada is at it again. It's hilarious how badly Americans on here have small man syndrome when it comes to Canada. Hilarious
