That's not enough for the Isles to dump JGP, let alone get two players back. I would MUCH rather have one more year of Athanasiou and Entwistle than two more years of Mikheyev and Woo. This doesn't help CHI.

Defintely enough lol. JG isn't really a cap dump. Hes doing what he is getting paid to do. Looking at him at 4 mil vs 5 makes it a big difference, and the islanders arent giving up more than Wahlstrom and a top 45 pick for that when 1 mil retention will 100% get value

Id get why the Hawks don't do this tho since the only piece of value is the pick

garak thinks you need to give up your whole prospect pool for chicago to take money on legit every thread.

This definitely doesn't help Vancouver. Anth and Ent are not better than Mikheyev and Woo. This doesn't help Canucks in any way.

Canucks pass. Doesn’t help us clear much cap and makes us worse

the motivation here for vancouver is simply to shed a year of contract. the player skill difference should warrant that value difference.

Yes he is a dump. And Wahlstrom is a bust.

We don't want Mikheyev though. You need to pay for shedding that year.

We don’t want Athanasiou. You need to pay for dumping him on us

Can’t see either of Pageau or Mikheyev not having Chicago on their no trade list. Trades might be irrelevant because of that

lol. Tell that to OP. Who is a VAN fan, might I add.

CHI doesn't want to or need to move Athanasiou. So, your argument is DOA.

Hawks will take those players but it costs a bit more to dump 10 mil in cap. That Vancouver trade is especially bad.

The last few years, that was kind of the case. With the cap going up this year though, I'd guess that the prices to dump contracts are going to go way down.

Nothing enticing to the Blackhawks here. There is a plan, and these guys aren't part of it.

Stop trying to send your garbage to CHI and I'll stop telling you to give us assets for it. On legit every thread, fans of every team send us their cap dumps and expect to get something for them. I never said give up your prospect pool, I say pay for your mistakes and problem contracts. That is the entire purpose of CHI creating the cap flexibility that they have. They want to build from within and are not targeting your old a$$ players with bad contracts. It's not a hard concept to grasp. Just stop making stupid posts and I'll stop ripping them to shreds.

The cost of dumping cap doesn't really change. Most relevant historical data on cap dumps came from before the pandemic and the resulting flat cap era. The problem is that everyone assumes just because CHI isn't very good and has cap space that we need their unwanted players, but we don't, and we certainly aren't paying for them, either. If teams want cap space, cool, pay for it, if they don't want to pay for it, that's fine too. These people just need to stop thinking they are gonna pull a fast one on CHI. The Bowman era is over in CHI.

So teams weren't paying a premium to dump contracts when the number of teams with cap space to take them was at an all-time low? OK

I mean... The landscape was certainly there for teams with cap space to bend teams over a barrel that needed that cap space, but, if you look at the actual trades through the pandemic era, it didn't really happen much more than normal. I think a lot more GM's knew what it would take to dump their unwanted contracts and held firm because they didn't want to pay the price.

That being said, most of the comps for cap dump transactions come from before the pandemic even began. And most of the cap dumps that did occur weren't too far off from the normal price to do so.
