Pass on the KK trade, just buyout Staal.

Barron trade is very meh, I don't hate it, but I'd rather have Morrow in the top 4

Vaakanainen doesn't make much sense. There will be guys of the same quality in free agency, or trade Fast for someone like Erik Brannstrom. Moving mid round picks seems counterintuitive.

Sure, I'll take Kaly for that.

WAY too much for both Jarvis and Necas. I can see Necas getting more than 7, but he's not getting more than 8. Jarvis is 100% getting bridged, but for the purposes of discussing a long term deal, I'd expect less than 7 for him. One great season doesn't make him worth 8.

Would you trade Staal back to PIT?

I'd buyout Staal if it meant keeping KK around. Staal's buyout is super cheap this year, and the cap increase covers the jump next year. If Pittsburgh want him no salary retained, I'll drive him myself

More likely Habs GM looking for young NHL ready forward (ie. Newhook) for Baron (or Harris) + pick (Jet’s 1st or a 2nd) not necessarily from Canes

LMAO, just what the Canes should do, spend 8+ mil on a player who averages 40-50 points based on an outlier year. In two years time he will be the new KK and we can all laugh at how the Canes for spending 8 mil on a 3rd line guy

That's a veeerrry different looking blue line, in a bad way. Is there any talk of the team wanting to use some cap room to bring back one of Pesce, Skjei or Chatfield?

I don't know if management does it because Rod will throw a tantrum, but I'd do it

Lol, how? He's a meh 3rd pairing D man. He's worth a 1st just because he was a 1st round pick years ago?

There's no reason to bring Skjei back. It's why they picked up Orlov. Orlov fills in for him in the top four. Chatfield sucks. His entire gimmick is that he can skate like the wind, but Morrow's skating ability isn't a downgrade. With Morrow offering offensive upside too, there's no reason to keep Chatfield around. Pesce's the painful one. In an ideal world, I do think the Canes want to keep him, but the fact there's a cap, he's got a new agent asking for the sun and stars, and Pesce's been relegated to a 2nd pairing D man by 3 different guys now under this management core when he is good enough to be a 1RD probably means he's going elsewhere

Habs are still light on the RHD - So I'm pretty sure they keep Barron instead of getting a fringe-NHLer.

It looks like you have a path to sign both major RFA’s as long as you move on from your UFA’s for the most part. If you can trade a center, it probably increases the caliber of UFA you can resign without a bridge contract for Necas or Jarvis.

That’s not 1st round pick value. The 2nd might be a top 45 pick and Suzuki is a bust that likely never sees any consistent NHL time.

I’m not saying Barron is or isn’t worth a 1st, but a 2nd + Suzuki is definitely not “1st round value”

Hard to know what we'd do with Vaakainen this off season. We've put years of development into him, I find it hard to believe we'd let him go now that he's actually kind of good. He was a major piece of the Lindholm trade, I kind of find it hard to believe we turn him into futures, but a hockey trade may be an option.

My guess is he wants 7x7. Problem is he took the first half of the season off, so he's not going to get it. I could see him salvaging 6.5 x 7 from a team desperate for a RD. He's a difficult one to project

CAR is stuck with KK as their 13th forward. Nashville isn't interested.

MTL will offer Kidney for R Suzuki 1 for 1 but the picks are unnecessary and we can't afford to be shipping quality young RD, even if some impatient fans keep bombarding the boards with Barron trades.

Moving a LHD is a different story; Harris, Engstrom, maybe even Struble (although I'd rather keep him) but no RHD until we actually have some established in the N.

Wrong. We have a log jam at Ld and only 3 Rd prospect. Trading Barron would do nothing except getting rid of a future second pairing D. And Suzuki + second is still worth a second
