Lundell OS

Created by: Wadejos123
Team: 2024-25 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 5, 2024
Published: Apr. 5, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
FLA will have 20 million this summer with only 3 NHL D 7 NHL Forwards, including Reinhart, Montour, OEL, and several depth pieces expiring. Then in 2025 they have Verhaeghe, Bennett, and Ekblad expiring. People will say the OS has to be in the 1st and 3rd round pick range but I really don't think FLA can afford this

Oh the Offer Sheets from bottom feeder are starting up again? Reminder that the player has to actually sign the deal

I think they'll find a way to keep Lundell. Heck I'd offer a lot more in trade value for Lundell quite frankly. Now...Reinhart on the other hand. I'm not sure they can keep him. He's a UFA and playing outstanding.

OEL was a depth add, he's on the back 9 of his career, he resigns his current deal or walks.

One of Montour or Ekblad walks. I suspect Ekblad, he's just too injury prone to lock up to a big deal and Montour has shown he can be the #1 guy when called upon, though he's fallen back into the realm of mortal men.

Kulikov as well. They have little on the right side of defence. Offer a young upcoming RHD and a pick you should be able to get Lundell. Florida can always get another center on the market like Colorado did by letting go of Newhook and trading for Colton.

I like it for the Hawks. But gotta believe the Panthers figure out a way to match that offer. They aren't letting Lundell go for a 2nd.

Lundell is a lot better than Newhook with a higher ceiling. Trading him isn’t a bill zito type of move. Florida has their top pair locked up at least for next year (forsling-ekblad) and Nikola was a good find as well. Florida has no issues finding solid top 4 D. They can trade a pick for a guy like boqvist or Spence to run the PP and play 2nd or 3rd pair

Florida would move Lundell in a trade than let him go on an offer sheet.

Proposing an offer sheet isn't just about trying to be sneaking and stealing a player. It shows a certain cap hit at which FLA would have a hard time keeping him and another team could have him, all for a 2nd round pick, illustrating a starting point for trade value. It starts a discussion, it isn't meant to offend or troll fans of the other team.

I would personally give significantly more that a 2nd for Lundell.

Yeah Lundell isn't leaving a potential cup contender like Florida for the likes of Chicago. Florida would match and worry about the consequences later on.

Completely missed my point. It's not at all realistic to expect a player to actively sabotage themselves or their team at a cup chance. The Hawks are nowhere near contending and the Panthers are clearly contenders. Unless Lundell feels the Panthers offer is genuinely insulting like 1-1.5M, he will almost certainly stay

No one is accepting an offer sheet to go to Chicago. People here dont understand that the player has to sign the offer sheet. I'd love to hear the stories of where players didnt sign much like Mitch Marner didnt sign an offer sheet at huge money in Columbus as has been widely reported.

LOL of course you think the Hawks can spare a 2nd. That is a nothing burger for a really good player like Lundell. You Chicago fans make me laugh continually here with the delusion. You all think everyone is a cap dump and Bedard can survive playing with 4th rounders and they dont need to insulate him by trading for actual talent because every draft pick is a guaranteed NHL'r.

I can see the point to be made that short term Florida is a much better place to play than chicago, but lets not act like it's so bad that no one would sign here either. Major market, Connor Bedard plus another top pick coming. Willingness to pay more money than other teams. And over the next decade the hawks contending window will be longer than Florida's. It's not a completly redicuouls proposition for a 22 year old to come and get more money, more ice time, and when you zoom out a few more years it's a team that will. be much more competitive when a guy like Lundell is in his prime

LOL.

Offer sheets only work when you drastically overpay like Kotkaniemi at 6.1M. Your offer sheet isnt even close enough to be considered and Chicago isnt Carolina. Those winters in Chicago are terrible, the travel schedule in the West is terrible and the team is beyond terrible. Chicago is the worst spot in the league to think a player signs an OS

I mean... Sharks, Ducks, Jackets, Senators, Yotes, Flames, Jets. Just to name a few. Come on man if you hate the hawks just say it. This started with some legitimate reasons why the OS doesn't make sense which was cool, then just turned in to how the travel schedule sucks lol. Make it make sense

I just officially added that dude to my ignore list. He is the meatiest of meat heads with such an obvious bias against CHI. Not worth your time.
