lol. No. As we told WSH fans before the deadline, it'll cost you to get CHI to take on Kuzy's contract.

This was a near-direct contract swap. You're only taking on 1.9M.

I like Carlo, but I'm not sure why Carolina is adding, here.

RHD are more valuable than wingers, yeah. But Necas is a better player, IMO.

And? Everything from his last few years in WSH points to him having character issues, which is not something CHI would even chance bringing into their rebuild. Also, he is old and will be a pending UFA next season. There is no reason for CHI to even consider acquiring him without being paid to do so, in which case they would probably just buyout his contract. So, why is CHI adding?

Just an RHD tax, that's all.

Carlo is likely to have the better contract. 3 years at 4.1MM AAV is absurdly good for what you get. My guess is Necas gets a premium contract that has the potential to age well.

I don’t see Carolina or Boston doing this deal, but it’s a good conceptual thought

Hawks easily decline. Kuzy has way too many off ice issues to play for Chicago. Hawks might take him as a cap dump with a pick attached and just buy him out. But Kuzy never puts on a Hawks sweater.

Carlo creates a big hole for Boston but I think they do it, especially if they can use their spending power to find a replacement in FA. Necas fills a big need, and he'll get a real chance to prove he has 1C upside with Pastrnak

Some of the things Kuznetsov has been rumoured to be involved in off ice makes him a no fly zone for Chicago. No chance Davidson wants him anywhere near all the young guys expected to be part of this rebuild over the next few years.

Not sure if your username points to the most objective thoughts on the matter smile.

It's an interesting thought. Hard to find good RD, though. Robbing Peter to pay Paul and all. If Necas doesn't stick at C, and there are REAL DOUBTS, this deal doesn't feel great.

well, this is predicated on my assumption that the bruins don't view necas as a center. i think that's a relatively safe assumption. They've got Pasta as RW1, they've got Debrusk and Frederic ideally playing on the right side as well, and they've got Lysell waiting in the wings so to speak.

Then look at what they're giving up - The team is built through the backend, and Carlo is a very key part of that group. He plays a very specific role, and it's an important one. He's locked up long-term, and at a very good number. I don't think the Bruins are moving that unless they're getting something back they view is critical to the team, and I can't see RW being that fit.
