As a hawks fan I would take that, but not sure Ham would waive for us. I like him as a 7th d if we bring in another RD in FA, but he is certainly an upgrade on our defense from this season lmao.

Two late 2nds for Chychrun would be significantly worse than the DeBrincat or Duchene returns when they were both flipped back out.

Theres no way Staios cant squeeze a 1st out of somebody. Or at the very least dont take the two worst 2nds of the three the team has...

Monahan just put up a 59 point season and was traded for a first. Even with his injury history he will want way more money than that especially on a deal that short

I find it funny that you say San Jose “dumps” blackwoods salary for Korpisalo who is owed $16 mil in cap hit and is worse and older.

That's not a huge overpay or anything for Chychrun, but NSH still doesn't make sense as a landing spot for him. McDonagh's been playing great, not "a shell of his former self" like the guy who wrote the article seems to think. Plus NSH has a bunch of young LDs in DelGaizo, Stastney and Molendyk who should all be NHL regulars within the next two seasons.

The only reason the Preds would be considered a good team for Chychrun is because they have cap space, and assets OTT would want. It doesn't work for NSH.

Blackwood isn't a cap dump, the first is tempting but It is likely a late first for a cap dump of 5 years

Provorov was a lot worse than Chychrun at the time of the trade. I think something like Jarnkrok + pick 23 for Chychrun makes sense

Definitely poorly worded on my part. I meant to say that SJ would not have to pay for Blackwood along with Korpi. The 1st is a recognition of the addition cap and term the team would take on. My bad for not wording it better.

No worries, I just don’t see them moving Blackwood. I could see them doing this with Vanecek though

I originally had Vanecek in that model of trade. Either goalie would work. Although I’m sure it would cost more than a 1st rounder as a sweetener to offload Korpi’s salary for so many years.
