Laine is only being moved if we can get back the sort of asset package you'd give for a top-line scoring winger. Yes, it's questionable whether or not he'll bounce back to that status after his time in the PAP, but he's been that pretty consistently for the Jackets and we have no cap pressures so we're basically playing with house money and you're going to have to pay us well to give that up.

I think the premise with the Necas deals are that Carolina chooses to extend Guentzel and Pesce forcing them to take picks and prospects for Necas because of the cap.

Can't really trade him for assets that have the same cap hit and they still not be able to fit them under the cap

I'm thinking he's talking more a package around young NHL players on every level deals. I feel they would idolize young players over picks. Nashville would be a good example with players like Tomasino, Evangelista (who they should not trade) and Parssinen. I think Guhle would be a top target from Montreal but in my opinion they should not trade him.

I would love to see the MTL/CAR offer sheet battle resume - MTL offer sheets either Necas/Jarvis for $7.5M+ AAV and it pretty much guarantees Carolina can't keep all three guys

Don't think MTL would entertain Guhle in a trade, even he would need a new contract to though and it's likely over the 3 million Necas makes now so they're right back where they started.

It's going to be interesting who Carolina let's walk this off season and if they make some deals to clear space

And that offer sheet war will end up like it did last time with Don Wadell winning

My guess is that Pesce and Teuvo are gone and everybody else stays

How's that?

Don't see a way where Carolina can pay Guentzel $8.5M, Jarvis $7.5M, and keep Necas at the same time. They would have to move other key pieces to make it happen and probably hurts their depth in the long-run. They are vulnerable to an offer sheet this summer.

Not a fan of any team involved in this ACGM, but why would CAR do that? They don’t get anything that helps them immediately and MTL fans won’t want to hear it but Harris doesn’t have a lot of value. WPG should do that. CBJ shouldn’t they kinda have to hope Laine can get straight. MTL shouldn’t do that Rangers trade.

The Hurricanes have always been great at finding depth at the league min or near league min (Chatfield, Noesen,Martin, DeAngelo) ... I don't think that they are gonna be too hurt by a little bit more strain.

https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/5074970 Is a great example of how the Hurricanes can both keep their great depth and still pay everybody

How did he win that offer sheet battle? Montreal and Carolina ended up with disappointing players from it and Montreal was the only one who signed an offer sheet to accomplish more than getting a player

No way Chatlfield signs for less than $1M AAV.

If you sign Guentzel, Necas, and Jarvis.... half your defense is gone and your bottom 6 is weak.

That's not what I'm saying... I'm saying that our team has a long track record of find great depth to sign to cheap short-term contracts

Most of our important bottom-six roleplayers are signed to deals pass this next year and it's only a cap crunch for one year

Plus our top-prospect comes over in 25-26 and is probably gonna be able to take over a top-4 slot immediately

If the Canes re-sign all three like you suggest, the bottom 6 would be Drury-KK-Fast, Lemieux-Staal-Minimum Signing... Martinook/Noesen would be out. It also means that both Morrow and Nikishin would be regulars and would only have approx. $1.5M AAV to sign a 3rd D. Either way depth is severely hurt
