In what way?

Lambos isn’t what he used to be projected to be in junior
Gustavsson is just a stopgap for Wallsteadt at this point but you already have Fleury & Ohgren will likely never be Mitch Marner let alone better than him

Fair trade with Detroit but they can't afford it cap wise with having to give Seider and Raymond big contract extensions.

Leafs would have to take Fabbri and Maatta back in a MM trade which the Leafs are probably not interested in doing.

Sharks could easily take Marner's cap hit but I don't know if he'd waive his NMC for San Jose.

Multiple reporters during Marners original contract debacle, the 2 offersheets were from Minnesota & Columbus

Marners a great player, but he would need an extension to be worth anything to a non playoff team. Marner for San Jose without an extension is legit 0 value.
