Kings back to the throne
I believe your assessment of Turcotte's value is way off. On top of that I don't believe Chicago would have any interest in him. Especially at that price.

Kings back to the throne
Hawks could use a future 2C but turcotte hasn't shown he's capable of being that guy. He's also pretty small and the hawks desperately need some more size in their forward group. If this is the price of turcotte the hawks will look elsewhere.

McGroarty Says No to Winnipeg
With the Schmidt dump involved, CHI is giving up too much. But without the Schmidt dump, it's not enough. Also, I don't think they would have any interest in Athanasiou. So, adding him would diminish the value of moving Schmidt to create cap space. If WPG sells McGroarty they will want straight up value anyway. 32 thoughts went over this earlier and said it was more of a roster space situation. He was essentially given a choice of the AHL or go back to college and chose college. But, he will still more than likely sign with WPG when all is said and done, this wasn't really a "refusal to sign".

Yeah someone is not understanding of the situation whatsoever lol. Whatever you'd trade nazar add a 2nd and that's what it would be fair even tho jets don't trade him whatsoever. Still time to delete this btw

Hawks Draft redraft 2018-2021
The two obvious "misses" were Boqvist instead of Dobson in '18 and Reichel instead of Mercer in '20. Those were both total head scratchers at the time Bowman made the picks. Reichel especially was a big reach at #17 overall. The others at least made some sense at the time. Boqvist and Reichel were just baffling choices.

If the Hawks would have sold EVERYTHING
Yeah I mean, the *goal* for this season wasnt to bottom out again. The goal for this season was to be bottom 5 with Bedard developing. Trading the supporting cast, especially if youre not getting much of a return, doesnt really help accomplish that goal

Growing Pain
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hawksguy81</b></div><div>Pretty sure the WHL regular season doesn't conclude until late March. Well after the TDL. And to be eligible for the AHL playoffs, a guy has to be on the AHL roster on 3/1(?? I might be off a few days on this date).</div></div>
As far as being on the roster by 3/1 for playoff eligibility, I did not know that. But it looks like you are correct. I guess I wasn't assuming everyone would be sent down before then, either. I wonder if a conditioning stint counts as "being on the roster by 2pm Central on 3/1". Edit: Also, it looks like it is 2pm on TDL day.
Either way, I don't think this rhetoric about players "Not being able to learn anything in the AHL or juniors" is true, at all. And honestly, in my opinion, players shouldn't even touch the NHL until they are ready and should be on a short leash to get sent back down, and a culture of positivity around playing in the AHL needs to be nurtured as to not make it seem like a bad thing, because it isn't a bad thing. The whole point of waiver exemption is for their development.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>klassic</b></div><div>While that is true, the players in discussion here have NHL professional contracts. To play in the AHL after their Junior season ends they have to sign an Amateur contract with the AHL. A player cannot sign both an NHL ELC and an AHL contract. So Bedard and Korchinski cannot play in the AHL except on a conditioning stint.</div></div>
That's not a thing. Players with NHL ELC's can play in the AHL after their junior season is over. The AHL is a professional league. The only time they need an AHL tryout is when they don't have an ELC. And the only time it needs to be on a conditioning stint is during their junior clubs season to bypass their claim on the player for a set amount of games. But their junior club has no claim once their season is over. Which means there is nothing stopping an NHL club from sending players down there. Now, Bedard being only 18 might pose a problem. But Korchinski, at 19 years old, should be able to play in the AHL no problem once Seattles season is done.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hawksguy81</b></div><div>Hawks aren't sending Vlasic back to Rockford. Bedard and Korchinski can't go to Rockford. They'd have to go back to the WHL. That ain't happening either. No chance Caleb Jones is coming back either.</div></div>
They can play in Rockford if their Junior clubs seasons are over.

Hawks probably decline. Peeke has two years left on his deal and is barely an NHL level D man. He's been really bad the last season and a half. Takes more than that swap of picks to dump him.

I don't think it's funny at all. If there is one thing we have learned about Bedard this year, it is that, to him, any excuse to play hockey is a good excuse. I absolutely agree. CHI should be sending everyone down that is waiver exempt and available. Including guys whose junior and/or college seasons have ended, if they are ready for the next step. But especially the NHL guys, they are gonna need the confidence boost after this god awful season.

Pretty solid effort from a non- Hawks fan! Love the Tarasenko signing for the Hawks. And Sundqvist and Walker both target positions Hawks will have to address in free agency. Doubt Hawks sign 2 UFA goalies. They seem pretty committed to the Soderblom experiment still. And no chance they target Ghost or another LD. Vlasic and Korchinski will be top 4 LD again next season. 3 LD will be one of Phillips, Kaiser, DelMastro or Allen. Maybe a vet LD who can play both sides as the 7th D man. Like Megna, who's been surprisingly solid since joining the Hawks.

Deals
I might be in the minority, but would like to see Joker get a chance to play in Chicago for a coach that is not a moron. However, Murphy has more value for the Hawks currently than he would have for another team that would be acquiring him . That makes getting a deal done extremely difficult. I don’t think Davidson would accept that deal at this time. Just my opinion but Olofsson is valueless.

Reinforcing The Leafs Identity
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KingExLeafs</b></div><div>Maybe Chicago will want to resign him considering Domi played good in Chicago. He could sign a similar deal as Foligno. Also, I don't think how coveted Johnson is around the league.</div></div>
Sounds like the point may have been missed. There might be mutual interest between the Hawks & Domi, who knows. But Domi or any other player on an expiring contract does nothing for the Hawks this season, it’s already lost. If the Hawks want to sign him to a Folgnio deal they will , during free agency.
I agree there probably isn’t much interest in Johnson around the league. However, you are asking for him & more importantly asking for retention. The retention slot is worth more to the Hawks than Johnson is & you are asking them to give it away for nothing that will help the Hawks. Hawks will not do other teams favors for free , just because the other teams want them too.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hawksguy81</b></div><div>Yes, Hawks definitely move him if they can. But they'll have to retain half. No one is taking him at his full cap hit.</div></div>
Yeah. And is retaining half really worth the difference between the 5th they traded for him and the 4th they are getting here? I actually kind of wonder if KD wants to extend Beau. He may not be putting up a ton of offense, but he fits the mold, is responsible in his own end, and there is probably more there than what we've seen from him. There are a lot of guys to consider extending, though. So we'll see how it plays out.

Not Serious Bad Contracts my rant
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Idk420</b></div><div>I just have no idea what the plan is outside of get talented young players and bad players on bad contracts ->?->profit</div></div>
So what you are really saying is that you don't pay any attention to the Hawks and you are just angry for no reason. KD has publicly talked about the plans and direction of the Hawks NUMEROUS times. He is not hiding it. This was a complete tear down rebuild. You wanna chance at winning multiple cups? You don't just get 1 good prospect and then blow your salary cap on free agents.
Hawks are stacking multiple high picks/prospects. Not all of them will pan out. Now that we have a large pool of top prospects (including upcoming draft) KD is looking at spreading out that window so players don't all come up at once. You will see multiple of those prospects get their shot in NHL in next 2 seasons. That is going to give you an idea of what you have and what holes you need to fill with trades/free agents.
Hawks have a lot of center prospects right now. If you sign a bunch of wings to big contracts what happens when those center prospects turn out better as wings. Now you have screwed everything up.
This is why Hawks are resigning guys like Dickinson and Foligno. They are steadying veteran presences on the team. The Hawks have plenty of picks and another 2 or 3 mid round picks aren't going to make a big difference. You start finding the stop gap players that will get you through to the prospects.
The reason the Hawks and rebuilding teams take on bad contracts is so they fill a gap and come with other assets.

Rushing the rebuild is a great way to get into cap issues and get stuck in mediocrity. Also, we wouldn't have Bedard if we didn't do any of that stuff. We aren't "wasting his ELC" we are making sure we can sign everyone before we add so we don't put ourselves into a tough position down the road. It's smart. You're just being impatient.
