So what you are really saying is that you don't pay any attention to the Hawks and you are just angry for no reason. KD has publicly talked about the plans and direction of the Hawks NUMEROUS times. He is not hiding it. This was a complete tear down rebuild. You wanna chance at winning multiple cups? You don't just get 1 good prospect and then blow your salary cap on free agents.

Hawks are stacking multiple high picks/prospects. Not all of them will pan out. Now that we have a large pool of top prospects (including upcoming draft) KD is looking at spreading out that window so players don't all come up at once. You will see multiple of those prospects get their shot in NHL in next 2 seasons. That is going to give you an idea of what you have and what holes you need to fill with trades/free agents.

Hawks have a lot of center prospects right now. If you sign a bunch of wings to big contracts what happens when those center prospects turn out better as wings. Now you have screwed everything up.

This is why Hawks are resigning guys like Dickinson and Foligno. They are steadying veteran presences on the team. The Hawks have plenty of picks and another 2 or 3 mid round picks aren't going to make a big difference. You start finding the stop gap players that will get you through to the prospects.

The reason the Hawks and rebuilding teams take on bad contracts is so they fill a gap and come with other assets.
