Gibson Thoughts
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>All_Knowing</b></div><div>You and I are on the same wave length on everything you said.
I signed Trocheck for that much because I didn't want to see the comments "Trocheck gets more". With the scrapes, a vet d to league minimum would be great.
So funny you say that: For Gibson trade, I tried to take out biasness (and also didn't want to hear the "not enough" for Gibson - despite that, still got a comment like that lol). I wouldn't give ANYTHING more than what I would above. I thought about taking Iorio out and putting Leason but opted not to (to avoid bias). Also thought about making the pick a conditional 2nd (if Caps make the Cup finals and Gibson plays 10+ games, turns to a first).
But overall, your thoughts were exactly mine as well.</div></div>
Every fan base over values their own prospects and players on here. Next to impossible to make a trade that everyone agrees on (I guess that's why we aren't actually GMs for NHL teams lol). From my Capitals fan perspective, I think a lot of what you did is pretty fair, nicely done

As a Caps fan, I like this team. Gibson is a great goalie, and I think with this team in front of him, he could put up some very good numbers.

Backstrom LTIRetires
I like that trade as a Caps fan. Lots of value going to Vancouver, but Capitals are in win-now mode and Miller fits that need more than Lapierre, Iorio & any 1st rounder from this draft. Eller is a solid 2-way player but makes a good amount of money and I'm sure Caps fans would love to see McMichael in the top 9.
Overall, good move for both teams IMO, nicely done!

Jets Trade
As a Jets fan, they need to find room for Heinola in their top 6. But if they can't, I could see him eventually getting fed up and wanting out of Winnipeg. I'd love to see him thrive in Seattle.

tariks q and a
Great reasoning on all moves. As a fan of both the Jets and Caps, I think this trade favors the Caps. Dubios is a very good, young player and I don't think he'd get moved for 1st round picks which will hopefully be the 32nd picks in the next few drafts lol (wishful thinking as a Caps fan) and Lapierre who is a very good young player in his own right, but very unproven.
My opinion could change if Dubios is not looking to sign here long term obviously. The hope around Winnipeg at least in my view is Schiefele gets moved, build the offence around Dubios, Connor & Ehlers. If Dubios wants out, Chevy has proved that he's not afraid to move on given the right price (Trouba, Laine...)
Overall, I like a lot of the moves you made as a Capitals fan, I'm just not sure the Jets accept unless Dubios won't sign. I would also like to save a bit more cap space so we don't have issues when Willy comes back.

Future Jets Edition
I think the Jets could/should try to get more of a return for Schiefele.
I'm also wondering why throw 3 million at a backup goalie? Comrie was serviceable last year, and I personally think that the "new" NHL is less of a starter/backup and more of a tandem approach to goaltending, but I'm just curious.

Offseason
It's looking like Backstrom will at least start the season on LTIR and possibly be retiring which will do two things for the Caps. First, gives them some cap space, and second, makes a massive hole in their 2nd line center role. (does Lapierre or McMichael take that role?)
Also, I would personally agree with the getting younger, and I would like them to give some of their young Dmen like Alexyev & Johanssen a shot instead of signing Braun/Beaulieu.
I also don't hate the goalie trade you made, I just always get attached to players and would hate see a goalie like Sammy who has a lot of potential IMO leave , but Caps are in win-now-mode, so I think this helps that immediate need.
Nicely done!

Leafs - WPG
I'm sure Jets fans are going to want a bigger return for Schiefele and Wheeler, but in reality, Wheeler's contract almost makes him untradeable IMO. So getting some solid pieces back in Sandin, Nylander and even Kerfoot is not a bad deal for both sides.
Makes room for Perfetti to play in the middle in the top 6 too which is nice.

As a Caps fan, I'd love them to move Carlson too. This would be an absolutely great deal for them, but I'd be curious to know if Ducks fan like it too lol.
I think Carlson is so over valued because of his role on the PP, but like you have in your post Carlson roster... I think Orlov can do that job just as well.

That's your own bias. In reality, if the Jets offered Ehlers and Perfetti for Brett Pesce... Chevy would be fired the next day lol

I love this trade from the Capitals perspective. I would even be ok if that was bumped up to a 2nd round pick. Comtois is a great combination of speed, size and physicality, could be a very nice addition to the middle 6 of Washington.

As good of a player as Nylander is, I don't think the Capitals would be interested in this deal. Wilson brings a lot to the Capitals that Nylander couldn't (physical play, PK, etc.)
I don't think the Caps trade Wilson.

Hurts giving up Jensen as I felt he was the most consistent Capital Dman last year. But that's a very enticing trade offer.
Curious why getting rid of Ceci? Has he not done well this post season?

That's why they would consider moving him for a puck moving Dman like Pionk. Pionk would be a nice fit for Tampa. Lightning have a lot of heavy defenders, they can afford to move on from one at the right price which IMO could be Pionk

Defensive Trotz System
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>No. It was Necas + Pesce for Laine, and the Canes laughed hard. A starting point for Pesce would be Ehlers for his two way game, probably ask for Perfetti, settle for a 1st... something like that. Pesce is the best RH DFD in hockey. He's been Carolina's best defenseman this season, and they have Slavin and DeAngelo. You'd have to pay through the nose to tempt a player like that away from a team in the middle of its cup window when he's on one of the best contracts in hockey.</div></div>
So you're saying that the Canes would only accept a trade for Pesce if it were for Ehlers and Perfetti..? I think that's a bit of hometown bias lol. Pecse is good, but he's nowhere near that valuable
