Kotkaniemi played 2C start of the season, scored at a PPG pace first 20 games, then Aho got hurt, so KK moved up to 1C, struggled, Drury started scoring as the 2C (about a half a point per game pace) and kept the spot. Since then, both Jarvis and Necas (who have also both had success as natural centers) have played in that role, oh and Staal STILL gets more TOI than Kuznetsov... just admit you've done no research and are trying to push a braindead narrative</div></div>
Kuznetsov's 5on5 icetime in Carolina: 12:51 per game
Staals' 5on5 icetime in Carolina (the past 4 games while Kuznetsov has been there): 11:46
No wait, it's even dumber. I figured it was true cause Staal probably still plays special teams while Kuznetsov doesn't but no .... it's just plain flat out wrong.
Kuz's ice time per game: 15:35
Staal's: 14:44

I was told selke voting didn't matter when I brought up how kotkaniemi has never had single vote ever after you called him an elite defensive forward

Staal will at least continue to be a dominant chance creating center who will finish top 5 in Selke voting. He'll do everything Tavares is doing better than Tavares, extends the Leafs window with cheap scoring depth, and gets to go home to Ontario (yeah, I know Thunder Bay is in the middle of nowhere and like 5 hours from Toronto, but it's close enough for this).</div></div>
The Canes have played Kotkaniemi as their 2C for most of the season and are trying to say they have good center depth? RIdiculous. Almost as ridiculous as saying that the 35+ year old center who has never scored at Tavares' current pace in his entire career is somehow going to be a better player than him.

The 11 million anchor still scores at a 2C rate and can at least pretend he's a 2C until the contract disappears after next season. Jordan Staal isn't even a 2C on a team with among the worst center depths in the league.

The offer sheet and subsequent 8 year contract is one of the worst and dumbest moves a team has made in 20 years.

He will be 32-33 at that time. That's when guys really start to decline. His contract will start becoming a boat anchor, right when you want to be competitive again. Maybe he is slower to decline though. If his decline starts at 34 that would be really nice for St Louis.
Either way I think Doug Armstrong put them in a terrible position with those 4 D men all signed for several more years into their mid to late 30s. Add the Schenn contract on top of that. I think he has done a bad job in that regard! All with full No Trade Clauses by the way....

The Kings offensive and defensive game have absolutely fallen off the map as of late. The kings have let in 4 or more goals in the last 5 of 8 games and they have scored 3 or more goals in 3 of the last 8 games. The Kings were averaging 4+ goals per game through the first 30 games of the season and their goals against was well below 3 goals per game and both of those things have vanished like smoke.

Long Term Improvements
I realise now that I missed named my team :tearsofjoy Was working on something else and then pivoted to this. This one should probably be named something like Keeping 1st Rounders. Sorry for the confusion!!<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TMLBRIAN</b></div><div>You are right. Peeke would be a cap dump. So why in the world do you think he would be a "long term improvement"?
We should not be accepting cap dumps from teams.
I would love Larsson but that 2nd would need to be a 1st. Seattle just won 9 games in a row and they are back in the playoff hunt. So I see it less likely than I did 1 month ago.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HollywoodHudon</b></div><div>How is Larsson for Niemela, Timmins, a 2nd and a 3rd "Long Term Improvements"???</div></div>

Sorry for the confusion everyone, this team was missed named :tearsofjoy I was working on something much more retool like before changing my mind and making this team. Should be named something like Keeping 1st. Thanks for the replies nonetheless.

Larsson was going to be my target since Seattle was super far out of a playoff spot. And then they won 4 billion games in a row.... :(

I love Ferraro and I'm sure most of his poor results can be chalked up to being on the 2023 2024 San Jose Sharks, but I'd definitely pass if that was the price. Wouldn't do Niemela for Ferraro straight up

Also, Niemela is a nothing prospect, wouldnt even be in the top 10 prospects for the Habs</div></div>
Allen would not be a starter over woll. Niemella is more than a nothing prospect as some still project him as an NHL dman potential top 4 most likely top 6. But yes Monahan is an upgrade Domi. I would trust Domi a little more offensively, but the 3rd line also sees a lot of defensive assignments and Monahan greatly outperforms Domi defensively. Savard would not help as McCabe is getting better. Liljegren is better, Reilly is better. Also Giordano, Benoit, lagesson and Timmins gives us 4 dman more than capable of patrolling the 4 to 8 d man range for minutes. ( Yes I would prefer a better top 4 among them but Savard for his salary and expectations would not improve the Leafs.

Can’t see the Leafs & Habs as trading partners and maybe you’re just exaggerating because it is Leafs & Habs, but Savard is not (or at least should not be) on any competitive team’s wish list this TDL. He is really not good and has another year
