<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Cory</b></div><div>My honest thoughts are I don't care who the Jets trade as long as they get better. My thoughts on Scheifele are this. The guy scored 40 goals, you can't just replace that and 2 - 20 goal players don't cut it. His teammates voted him to remain a leader. If there was any chance at him being a locker room problem, that would not have happened and he would've been stripped of that privilege. In all the rumors, not one person ever named Scheifele as the problem that I have seen. I did hear the comments that James Patrick said that he heard through Hayes. Funny thing about that is, Hayes publically came out and said that he would be open to re-signing in Winnipeg that year, so is James Patrick credible? I don't think so, he will also probably never get a head coaching position in the NHL for those comments he made.

Now did he quit on his coach this year? Maybe, but then so did Connor, Wheeler, Ehlers and Morrissey because they were all in a slump at the same time. My thoughts on this, If we have a player that takes a month off to "pout" and he still scores 40 goals. Sign that guy long term and work with him on his so called "attitude" problem.

I think Jets fans are just looking for someone to blame for last year and Wheeler and Scheifele are always the scapegoats. The team made the playoffs, albeit after a massive collapse. 16 teams out of 32 make it, and yet us as fans still want to criticize them. This team was not even expected to make the playoffs at the start of the season.</div></div>

I have personal connections to the team, and after what I’ve heard I wouldn’t want scheifele or wheeler anywhere near my team.

You mention the team voting to keep him as a leader, they also still considered wheeler the captain Lmfao. What kind of culture has been built in that room? What sort of power do these guys hold over their teammates if even after being stripped of the C they’re still considered the C?

Idk, feels like this team needs a culture reset.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Cory</b></div><div>So not saying you are wrong. I honestly don't know much about either. But Friedman said that Blake may have lost interest in Byfield's ability to play center that is why he spent most of last year playing the wing. The reason he said LA is in on Dubois is for that reason, they do not believe that they have a legitimate center in Byfield. Now, you sound like you know a lot about him so you could probably speak more to it then I can.</div></div>
Doubting whether Byfield can be the #1 center to replace Anze Kopitar when Kopi finally retires is different from thinking that he should be traded. Byfield is younger than any of the other 14 forwards on the Kings' main roster and also younger than prime prospects Alex Turcotte, Sam Fa-gem-o, Alex LaFerriere and Andre Lee, and younger than any forwards on Winnipeg's main roster. Los Angeles will give him at least two more seasons before making a final decision on him, just as they did with Gabe Vilardi (didn't THAT turn out nicely?) and probably will with Alex Turcotte.

I don't think that we're in on DuBois for a variety of reasons, including but not limited to cap and the institutional antipathy the Kings have to malcontents, a philosophy that pre-dates Blake and is likely still present. Los Angeles doesn't have a comfortable place to put him now, with Kopitar and Danault at center and Fiala, Kempe, Moore, Arvidsson, Iafallo and Vilardi at wing even without Byfield in either capacity. Moreover, signing DuBois long-term would rule out acquiring an equally expensive starting goaltender (either now or in the future) or the pipe dream of Auston Matthews in 2024.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Cory</b></div><div>This pure rental stuff is funny. Dubois wants to win. Montreal is far from it and Arafay nailed it with his description. Hockey Writers came out and said that their are multiple teams that will be interested in Dubois. Carolina, NYR, Colorado, LA, Boston, and of course Montreal. If Kidney, Dvorak and a late first is all Montreal offers, then I am glad we can all shut the Dubois to Montreal fluff down because every one of those other teams will blow that offer away.</div></div>

THW say and write a lot of stuff with various degrees of legitimacy, like writing that MTL should be interested in Horvat (in a very similar article several months ago) despite his pending UFA status and them being in a rebuild or the Leafs should trade Nylander for Eriksson Ek.

Of the teams mentioned NYR, LA and Boston are currently very tight to the cap with other holes to fill. They would need to trade away some of their high salaried players to make room for PLD and likely require a third team to do so since most of these players have trade protection and WPG is likely to be on most of these (also BOS have probably the worst prospect pool in the league and no 1st or 2nd round pick for the next 2 years which adds more complexity). Carolina for their part are a very process driven team and well known to be unwilling to pay premium assets for pending UFAs. For them to beat the proposed MTL offer (Kidney, Dvorak, FLA 1st) they would 100% need PLD to be locked down with term or a dramatic shift in management policy. Colorado is more of a possibility but their cap situation is quite uncertain at the moment so its hard to speculate one way or the other.

All this to say that while many teams are likely interested in PLD actually trading for him will probably be more complicated than most people realize.
