I wouldn’t be surprised if they were. Outside of maybe Parayko. But with that, I’m not sure using a 3 year retention slot on Hayes should be priority when it would probably need to be used on others

For fun
I like Sam Reinhart and he is younger than i thought, but I wouldn’t want to tangle up that much money on one guy.
2025-2026 season Rags will need to sign up Laffy (who is looking GOOD), Miller and Shesterkin, which will all probably command raises. That year would also be the 3.5 million hit on that Goodrow buyout.
Maybe no Sam, wait on the buyout and try to do somthing with Lindgren. But i love Lindgren so IDK lol.

Possible move in the off-season
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BamBam80</b></div><div>How can you imagine what the team could have done with a Panarin-Chytil-Laf line last year? You have been proposing trading Panarin for anyone who can lace up their skates. At least be a little self-aware of your past commentary. Trochek is playing third line this year. Let's see what his production is playing the full year in that role. If you look at his career stats, the $5.6M is not out of line for a 2-way center.</div></div>
I am aware of my past commentary and I stand by my past commentary. If Panarin plays like he did in the playoffs, I want him launched into space. If you are going to play with that little effort while literally bending the team over contract wise, you don't deserve to be a New York Ranger. However, Panarin has looked good playing with Chytil and Lafreniere so for now he can stay. You guys take things way too personally. Everyone thinks that I was pro-trading Panarin due to Panarin as a person or something. When really it has been 100% about what he does/doesn't do on the ice. He looks like a new player under PL and with the young guys. Therefore I have no problem with him staying. If he gets back to his old ways he can go.
Trochek's contract is fine if he is a 2C but is a huge overpay as a 3C. Especially because I'm of the opinion that he should be nowhere near the powerplay.

Nugent Hopkins get powerplay time with both of them and plays on a line with Drai and Hyman
Laffy had Chytil and Kakko (was a very good line 5v5 last year) but still got less minutes and barely any PP time

I can't speak for others but I'd trade Laf for the right package, I'm not gonna trade him for peanuts but if I get a good offer i'd be willing to take it. (At minimum it would probably take a 1st and a good middle six guy on a good contract)

I think they look at it as why have Kreider who’s great now, but will be 35 turning 36 by the end of his contract. At 32, they’re probably hesitant to add him at $6.5 mil.

Bringing back Kane
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NYRxLundqvist</b></div><div>I don't think he does but either way laf is stuck behind panarin and kreider... when panarin flops again this off-season maybe he gets moved and laf can play lw in the top 6 🤞</div></div>
I'm hoping for the same. Love the flair. Trade him for picks for all I care. Just put us out of our misery as soon as possible because this team is going nowhere with him
I'm fine with only Kreider blocking Laf especially if the 1st and 2nd lines are being deployed equally. Plus Kreider will probably have a natural transition down the lineup within a couple years. But the Panarin situation is unacceptable.
Kakko is defensively great so I hope he can find his footing but it just doesn't seem like the mindset is there. I wouldn't be too upset if they packaged him up for an elite proven RW because maybe a change of scenery would benefit him. But he should be getting an extended look on the top line this year so we will see if he can prove himself

Laffy Trade
This is the correct response- the rest of this development stuff is all irrelevant because we will never know.
You aren’t getting a former 1 Overall pick for some spare parts and a modest bridge deal.
If you want him - step up an offer that works or just offersheet at $6.435m x 2 and call it a wash.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NYRxLundqvist</b></div><div>It's crazy how almost all teams want laf but they want to pay garbage because "he's a bust"... then why do you want him?</div></div>

They think they can turn him into elite Lw, problem with that logic is, it is not lowest bid wins, it is highest. They seemed to lost that fact. And if he is offersheeted he will sign the highest offersheet. But better to be quiet about that, might hurt their brains. :D
