Yes, I don't think either team does it. Chicago has a very early 2024 2nd, plus next year will be a lottery pick again which also results in a early 2nd round pick, plus Reichel is incredibly talented despite having a bad sophomore slump this year...it's a lot to give up for one player for a team that is rebuilding

If CHI doesn't get multiple 1st round picks OR clean out EDM's prospect pool, it is a failure of a trade. Who says "something is brewing" anyway? I think there is just a lot of absolutely bonkers speculation out there due to Perry being healthy scratched.

If the Hawks are interested in Lindholm, they will just go after him in free agency, they sure as hell aren’t trading a potential top five pick for him.

Hawks obviously decline. They aren't trading a top 5 pick in the draft for a pending UFA.

Campbell dump
Hawks probably don't do this. The two 1st's is what it takes to dump the 3+ years left on Canpbell. So Hawks trade Murphy, Mrazak half retained and a 2nd for Bourgault and Ceci? Can't see the Hawks doing that.

Using the Neal-Lucic trade model
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>rookescr96</b></div><div>Your slightly over valuing a cap dump trade here. Yes I believe it would take a first round pick potentially plus to dump Campbell. But when the Kings dumped Peterson, they gave up a second round pick and Helg Grans who was a second round pick plus Sean Walker who was a healthy scratch in the playoffs.
The leafs only had to move back about 13 spots in the draft in order to dump Mrazek's $3.8 million.
Yes cap dumps cost you, but two first round picks isn't a reasonable price based on actual cap dumps in the past.</div></div>
You conveniently leave out several key points in your response:
Peterson only had two years remaining, not four.
L.A. also retained over $2m per season for two years on Provorov.
When the Hawks made the deal with the Leafs for Mrazek, Chicago needed a goalie… that’s not the case now. Difference circumferences lead to a different price.
Also factor in that there are roughly five teams that can absorb the Campbell cap hit and as others have mentioned, some of those teams really don’t have a fit for Campbell moving forward.

You aren't going to find a comparable trade where a team dumped a $5m cap hit for 4 years. There hasn't been one. Based on recent Hawks deals in which they took cap dumps from other teams, two firsts seems about right. Zaitsev from Ottawa - one year at $4.5m took a 2nd and a 4th. Josh Bailey from Isles - one year at $5m took a 2nd. It's not just the cap hit number that plays into it. It's also the term. 4 years is a long time! How about the Patty Marleau dump? Leafs gave up a 1st to move one year at $6m. Based on that, two 1st's to move 4 years at $5m is a bargain! The reality is every GM in the league knows what Edmonton's situation is. No one is doing Holland any favors. Oilers are going to pay a premium to move Campbell. How much depends on which team. There may be a team out there who is willing to take one 1st or a 2nd and a prospect but I can pretty much guarantee it won't be the Hawks.

I find it odd that you say “plus maybe a draft pick?” on the Chicago trade. It’s most certainly a draft pick. A first rounder and more. Let’s be realistic, dumping Campbell requires quality assets.

Unless the Oilers are trading for a goalie who has the same term and a similar cap hit to Campbell, the Oilers add significant assets to move him. Hawks probably don't consider taking him without the equivalent of two 1st round picks attached

Both of the first round picks from Chicago will most likely be Top 10 selections. I like Nylander, but it doesnt make sense for Chicago if thats what it costs.
Adding Brodie in there is a sneaky move. He would not be long term fit with Chicago, moving money is not free in this league.

Murphy immediately becomes Torontos best defensive defenseman. The package going to Chicago isn't what they need.
Chicago has 13 picks in the top 2 rounds over the next three drafts, a 3rd round pick doesn't really move the needle.
Sure Jarnkrok/Lil-J would play, But Chicago is trying to figure out what their own prospects can do in the NHL, Jarnkrok/ Liljegren get in the way of developing those guys.
Not the right players or picks for Murph

The hawks taking on jarnkrok is the same as asking for retention. Murphy's only 30. His value shouldn't go down in the next 3 years. His next contract will be the buyer beware contract.

The Oil need more Scoring Depth
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Fail4Nail</b></div><div>Que the delusional Blackhawk fans saying Raddysh is worth multiple first round picks + McDavid or Drai...</div></div>
Personally I have not seen any Hawks fans claim Raddysh is worth multiple 1st. Most feel with a repeat or improvement on last seasons numbers (20+ goals) he could return A 1st round pick (singular) at the TDL, especially when you consider he is on a below NHL minimum deal AND he is an RFA, meaning he is not a rental. Theoretically a team could trade for Raddysh, send down another player making $1m and create cap space.
What is delusional are people who think you can trade a $5m per season dogs**t goalie with four seasons left on his contract in a climate where only a handful of teams have cap space AND despite all of that you won’t have to pay an expensive premium to make the deal happen.
