This is so bad for TO. Yeah Saros is great but Woll is looking great as well and costs nothing to acquire and now a team that only gets offence from their top 4 forwards will have 1 less.

At that cap hit he is. And we could sign him for under 3 million and I see a 30 goal scorer in this lineup.

Not sure Nashville would do that trade. If they trade Saros, it's because they are rebuilding. Acquiring a 27-year-old winger who will be paid 10 mil+ is the opposite of rebuilding. A realistic Saros trade would be more likely Liljegren, Cowan, Minten, and a 1st. Liljegren as the roster player, Cowan/Minten as higher end b-level prospects, and a 1st cause a 1st.

Leafs need to trade either him or Marner to get a quality #2 D to play with Rielly. If they don’t improve the backend, we will never get past the 2nd rd of playoffs.

Do you want to take almost half the teams offence off the team? Without Nylander, JT isn't scoring the points he is this season. Take that offence out and how many goals is this team going to score? 2 a game? 3 if Matthews gets a hattrick?

Are you even paying attention to what's happening with this team? Shanahan's ego is sinking this team. Our new GM is an idiot, and he's here because Shanahan didn't want to give Dubas full autonomy.

Who cares about scoring goals if you can’t keep them out of your net??? I don’t like the Nsh trade either because we don’t need a goalie but I would definitely trade Marner or Nylander to get a top quality D or we will get bullied in playoffs again. I don’t get why people think we can keep these four guys with our D being so bad. Bos was missing 3 of their 6 D last game and still looked better than ours.

30 goal scorer and under 3mil aren't really things that go together but, I'm not convinced he'd do all that much better than Jarnkrok.
He'd be the third best guy on the Matthews Marner line and I'd also think he'd be the 3rd best guy on a Tavares Bertuzzi line and 2nd PP so I don't see his numbers really inflating that much
He'd probably get more assists from playing with better guys but, I don't know how many more goals since I think all 4 other guys are better shootewrs than him, at least right now.

At this point I'd rather pay Nylander current Marner money for 8 yrs than pay marner what he'll get in his next contract.

BUT, you'll probably regret that. Nylander makes business decisions all the time. He knows he's playing for A contract somewhere. I've never seen him play better. Not even in the playoffs despite him actually being pretty good in the playoffs. Don't pay someone for 10 games worth of performance....especially when if it's the best 10 games they've ever played.

Nylander doesn't get you Saros, Niemelä doesn't get you Fabbro, and you're not getting rid of Samsonov for free.

The problem with the trade is trading Saros sets us wayyyy back, and Nylander doesn't cover the distance. Sure, we're getting a 40g player which is great, but this leaves Lankinen as our starter until Askarov is ready.

He's been playing in a two way role and on the PK. You know forwards are relied on to play defense as well. For this cap hit, he is a valuable asset and given his age has upside. Hawks probably aren't interested in trading him for those reason.
