Published: Nov. 9, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This isnt an actual offer, just seeing what theyre worth
Trades
EDM
  1. Korchinski, Kevin
  2. 2024 1st round pick (TBL)
  3. 2024 2nd round pick (LAK)
Additional Details:
Is Korchinski untouchable? Whats he worth? Does Chicago wait a couple more years to start really surrounding Bedard?
CHI
  1. Nurse, Darnell
Additional Details:
What is Nurse currently worth? I tried finding a good LD prospect, but most teams with them probably wouldnt want Nurse: i.e Zellweger from Anaheim and Simashev from Arizona

Korchinski is pretty much untouchable, yes. Kyle Davidson said while walking down the stairs just after drafting him..."We got our guy". They're really high on him.

Any player in the league you could currently compare him to?

Interesting. You dont think he could be used as a piece to bring in something current, for Bedard (Maybe next season)? Or you think hell be there a while?

I don’t know if I would consider Korchinski untouchable, but I also doubt anyone would present an offer good enough to get the trigger pulled.
BTW. Hawks aren’t giving up picks right now, no matter how good the player offered up is considered * exceptions to every rule.

Nurse and Seth Jones have very similar contracts and both are severely underperforming.

Thats exactly who I was thinking of, but if you ask me, Jones does not have negative value. Yes the contract is hefty, but hes not the worst

No, I don't think he'll be used as a piece unless it's for Cale Makar...which obviously isn't happening. Support for Bedard can come via free agency and eventually from the draft. The Hawks view him as their #1 LD option going forward. I personally don't like that he's already playing the #1LD. I don't think his playing style matches up well with Seth Jones. They're both too offensive minded where he and Murphy compliment each other much better and Vlasic Jones are better suited for each other.

I agree on the fact that he probably shouldnt be the #1 LD thats kinda wild for Korchinski

I hope they acquire more picks and move up in the draft. Levshunov would be a home run pick imo. Hawks don't have much depth in their farm system with RHD. Rinzel is playing well in Minnesota, but that's it. They've got 1 guy in their system that's a RHD. Obviously if they win the draft go with best available, but I'm also keeping any eye on Anton Silayev. If the Hawks can move up in the draft they might be able to get him too. Now, he's a long-term target. That's not helping in the short term, but that's what I hope they do going forward.

I cant see Chicago being interested in this deal.

Even 1-1 without picks involved im not confident Chicago does the trade.

Korchinski IS the piece. He's going to be the cornerstone of the defense. The Hawks have Oliver Moore, Frank Nazar, Bedard, and Reichel in their top 4 maybe even as early as next year but for sure in 2 years. I'm less high on Nazar as he's underperforming this year at Michigan. Moore is having a stronger season. Rinzel is also at Minnesota likely for this season and next before being considered for NHL time but also another hopeful cornerstone of the defense.

I predict if Moore and Nazar are considered NHLers next season, Davidson goes out and gets another top 6 piece via FA. That'll total 5 top 6 pieces + they still have Taylor Hall for next year.

Idk if I'm making sense or not but it makes sense in my head. LOL

Korchinski isn't going anywhere. Hawks traded DeBrincat to acquire the pick they used to draft him. Hawks GM Kyle from Chicago is very high on Korchinski. Korchinski should be a Hawks for the next decade or more.

I think both Moore and Nazar go back to college. I just don't want to rush the rebuild and while I do agree Moore is playing well, he's also playing on a line with a Hobey Baker Finalist, Jimmy Snuggerud. Have him go back 1 more year...just like Snuggerud...and he be the more veteran player.

I think you need to aim lower with a Nurse return. Everyone you listed, Korchinski, Zellweger and Simashev, are all top of the line defenseman prospects. Nobody is giving up a player like that for a soon to be 29 year old defenseman making 9 mil for 7 more years. I’d say go a tier lower on the prospects. Even then teams might view this more as helping EDM than getting an asset themself. 9 mil is not easy to move. If you’re willing to retain on Nurse, that would help the return.

I also see a lot of comments about moving Korchinski to get pieces around Bedard. Korchinski is a piece that will be here for the Bedard era. Defenseman matter, not just his line mates.

My man! Levshunov is my guy too. If CHI picks a dman in the top 10, I hope it's him. I really don't want Parekh, I think he is awful defensively and it is gonna catch up with him. I don't want Dickinson for obvious reasons (LHD), although he seems to play the right side fairly regularly and effectively. Mewes and Elick are my next favorite RHD and, as the rankings currently stand, they might be slipping to the late 1st or early 2nd round. Silayev is starting to seem like a bit of smoke in mirrors. Not sure if he can hang on the right side in the NHL, but he seems to do fine there in the KHL.

Also, don't discount Kelley. For a guy that I thought would be falling off CHI's radar, he is having a great year and is due for his ELC next summer. I doubt he is ever anything more than a 3rd pairing guy at best, though. But you never know.

Yeah forsure. I wasnt specifically thinking of Bedard line mates. I was more thinking they would try to move Korchinski for someone in their Prime, rather than wait for Korchinski to hit his prime ya know? But im now learning the Korchinski is a lot more highly touted than I originally thought.

Honestly I can't believe you are that out of tune with the NHL that you are just now "learning that Korchinski" is highly touted. You would be hard pressed to find any legit prospect list that didn't have Korchinski listed at #2 or #3 in the system. He is averaging nearly 20 minutes per game (2nd only to Jones). Top D pair, PP2 QB.

I am just in awe of your lack of understanding. There is not a snowballs chance in h*ll they would make this trade and tie up almost 19M in 2 defenders. Even without Seth Jones on the team there is no chance this happens. This is so bad. Sorry.

This has to be a troll comment. Your really that surprised someone doesnt know about a couple players in the NHL?

How is this bad, when im purely asking questions? After all the great comments above that are actually informative, you gotta drop... this...

I dont pay much attention to teams outside of the metro, and especially not to prospects my team didnt draft.... lmao

also, read the fckn description. ahahaha been saying that for years on this site now
