The Oil need more Scoring Depth

Created by: Logicalicesports
Team: 2023-24 Edmonton Oilers
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 27, 2023
Published: Oct. 27, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This is for when McDavid comes back and they are actually playing like a proper team.

They need to add some guys that can get on the board.

Additionally, for the trade with the Blackhawks, Chicago is going to have Gajan coming into the fold soon and Cammesso playing well in the AHL so it makes sense that they can get rid of Soderblom.

You are not even playing the right sport, let alone in the ballpark on the Hawks trade

Bold: No 1st for moving Campbell and you want a team to retain nearly $4M for 2 years for a 2nd.

You are going to be pretty upset when you find out what it costs to move Campbell and obtain Kuz with 50% retention.

I’m thinking we will add some lake front property & some ownership shares while we are at it.

Personally I have not seen any Hawks fans claim Raddysh is worth multiple 1st. Most feel with a repeat or improvement on last seasons numbers (20+ goals) he could return A 1st round pick (singular) at the TDL, especially when you consider he is on a below NHL minimum deal AND he is an RFA, meaning he is not a rental. Theoretically a team could trade for Raddysh, send down another player making $1m and create cap space.

What is delusional are people who think you can trade a $5m per season dogs**t goalie with four seasons left on his contract in a climate where only a handful of teams have cap space AND despite all of that you won’t have to pay an expensive premium to make the deal happen.

Well Raddysh is worth around one 1st rounder.....then you gotta pay to dump Cambell, so yeah this deal should cost the around the value of two 1st rounders probably more. I really like Rads but I think the cost of dumping Campbell is even bigger the acquisition cost for Raddysh.

I never was saying that but that is an awful offer but Chicago declines, Campbell is the worst goaltender in the NHL and Soderblom is going to be our starter moving forward from the looks of it

And Broberg still isn’t cracking your lineup and considering our young guys on the left side are our future, Broberg has no place in our lineup going forward

Hard no from Hawks. Yeah, I am sorry that guys making 750K that score 20G and 40ish point that still have RFA control command a decent return. NEVER seen a Hawk fan imply he is worth TWO 1st but rather MAYBE a late 1st (the kind contenders have) at the TDL. Problem is Soderblom is currently viewed as potentially a #1 with a solid backup as his floor. No guarantee Soderblom gets there and doesn't flop, but at this point he is not a throw in and an actual asset. I don't know where to start with Campbell who has the track record and pedigree to not possibily be as bad as he has since arriving in Edmonton. Fact is even though you would think he could not be worse than 3.41 .888 of last year, he has come out of the gates this year actually worse. Add that he is owed 3 more years of 5 and he alone is a first and something else nice for anyone to even remotely start to think he is a good idea....as in Broberg and a 1st might cover dumping him and you are asking the Hawks to give you TRad, Soda & a 3rd for giggles.

Counteroffer is TRad, Mrazek for Bourgualt, '24 1st, '26 1st, & Campbell and that is honestly probably too generous as I am not all that big of a fan of Bourgualt as a prospect and Campbell has been THAT bad and that much of a cap dump. Honestly, the best approach would be to stand pat and let Campbell rebuild some of his value rather than trying to dump him at what very well could be rock bottom. Worst case, Campbell has completely forgot how to stop pucks and gets no better than what he is and the cost to move on from diminishes with every paycheck he collects and the cap going up next Summer.

You could literally take Raddysh and Soderblom out of the trade and CHI would still decline. If you think we are just gonna take care of your cap issues for free, while also sending you our best trade chip 20 goal scorer Pending RFA on a lower than league minimum contract AND our "goalie of the future", all for what is likely to be a late 1st round pick and a prospect that is bordering on bust and plays a position we ALREADY have too many of, you, my friend, are the delusional one.

Soderblom is a top goalie prospect, Hawks aren't letting him go period.

Raddysh is worth one late 1st round pick (at worst a 2nd and 3rd)
Soup costs more than a late 1st to move, probably a late 1st and prospect (could be Broberg)
Hawks aren't going to have any interest in Broberg; we have way too many LHD young players prospects already that are better; namely Korchinski and Vlasic and 3 that could play 3rd line already.

Just to move Soup you are likely looking at the 1st + Broberg (or another good prospect) so you haven't paid for Raddysh here, definitely not getting a 3rd round pick back from the Hawks and Soderblom is off limits.

Raddysh scored 7 of his 20 goals on PP last year while getting the 68th mostPP ice time of all forwards.

Can’t imagine Edmonton playing him 3 minutes a night on PP so you’re getting a average 3rd liner who is arbitration eligible this off season.
Use the first to get a good player.
