Predictions- Detroit Red Wings
Pretty accurate prediction for someone who doesn't have the Wings as a 1st or 2nd favorite team.
I was.. and still am hoping Edvinsson would make the roster but he didn't standout in world juniors. That said he did have a minor injury & food poisoning.
Just like Raymond last year training camp & preseason will determine if Edvinssonmakes the team or not.
If he doesn't make the team I feel like it's not a big deal if they aren't making they playoffs. It gives him time to develop in the AHL without as much pressure.

Couple Years From Now
I like this team a lot but there are a few this I think will be different.
I hope Raymond plays well enough to earn even more than that which will suck for the cap but be great for the team.
I hope & think Vrana will play a healthy full season and be a 30-40+ goal scorer with plenty of assists which in my opinion deserves more money than Bert.
This team would be cup or bust because too many guys would be on the last year of their ELC's and likely earn a lot more the next season

Overvalued Players by people on CapFriendly
This is very accurate.
Imo Chychrun could be put under "Very good players but not worth the type of returns being thrown around listed here"
He's a great player but it's like they want three to four 1sts/equivalent or it's no deal.

goaltending and defence
I agree this D lineup doesn't look good enough to push for a playoff spot but what if you replace Walman & Oesterle with Edvinsson & G. Lindstrom?
It's possible both happen and also this D lineup looks way better than last season's.
This ACGM seems like it's pretty pessimistic. I'm happy and optimistic that we have Ned & Husso instead of Ned & Greiss/other old backup goalie.
I think having two younger guys who both want to start and win creates a competitive environment to bring out the best in both.
WIngs didn't sign Copp to a 5 x 5.6 to be a third line winger

What would Detroit give up to get Barzal?
Barzal doesn't make sense for Detroit; that trade would command too many futures & I also think NYI should/will keep Barzal.

WJC Team Canada lines I would run
From looking at projected lineups I thought Cossa was the 3rd string tender or the backup.
I'm glad he got a start even if it's against a lower talented team . I thought he looked pretty good at times but had some weak spots as well.
I hope he gets more starts but understand if team Canada gives the other goalies a go.

Who doesnt belong
Stastny is the quick & easy answer.
I thought it was going to be a player who is the only one who has been on the same team their whole career but that's none of them.
The answer that I thought about for longer is Tkachuk. I'm too lazy to look up all of the ages but I think he's the younger than all by a few years and/or the only guy who got a 8 year contract.
I'm looking forward to the answer.

cup 23
If Girard can come back from injury and be the same player this trade could make sense for both teams.
I'm still high on Veleno but the Wings have so many middle/bottom six forwards they can afford to move someone.
In this case I hope Yzerman would haggle & the Wings give up the St. Louis 2023 2nd or the Wings 2024 2nd instead of their 2023 2nd.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ihopeigetit</b></div><div>Is the above a reasonable offer? What are your thoughts on his value?</div></div>
I feel like 2 2nds is a pretty fair value except that they are for 2024 & 2025 drafts when the Wings hope to be competing.
I also expect Buffalo to be better in a couple of years which makes those picks mid to late 2nd round picks.

2023
Tkachuk is a great player that I'd love to see on the Wings but that's a quantity for quality trade that leaves no cap room for the Wings to extend Larkin or Bertuzzi.
That's a lot of assets to give up. Unless Wings can contend for a cup this season I wouldn't do it.
I don't like them trading away 2023 1st.
I feel like Bert would have to be a piece that goes to Calgary just for cap space.
I'd rather keep Bert. Bert is like a budget Tkachuk. He doesn't score as much as Matthew but costs half the price with similar gritty play.

This could be a playoff contender
This is a fringe playoff team for sure but unfortunately not a cup contending team. They need 1 or 2 more superstars for a cup contender.... maybe Edvinsson is the new Seider and they just need another goal scorer.
Not a bad team at all just not as elite as teams like Tampa or Colorado maybe even Edmonton if they get a goalie.
Wings should not & will not be trading the 2023 1st round pick unless it's for an elite tier player who is signed through years when they are going for the cup.

I hope Veleno makes the team full time. I still have very high hopes for him, mostly because of the exceptional player status and numbers he put up in the Q.
He seems like a guy who puts in a lot of effort on or off the ice to improve and he had some good games last year.
I like Kadri and what he could bring to the Wings. Signing him until he's 37 is a hard pill to swallow but that type of term and money is probably what it's going to take in this market.
Last season's squad was fun to watch especially with the rookies looking so good for the future.
This team would be even more fun to watch. I'm excited just looking at this roster since it's probably very close to what the roster will look like.

HELL NO to the trade.
Thanks to Greiss for his time in Detroit but he'll be 38 so also no.
Nyquist probably doesn't come back especially for that price & 4th line playing time.
Extremely slim chances Wings somehow get Bedard.
I think having family members on the same team is a cool & funny concept. I prefer them as rivals (Tkachuk)

That's a great question & a great debate.
Younger me used to think the O-Show (OHL) was churning out the best talent but after the covid lockout & with recent drafts I'd say the U-Show (USHL) is really good.
At the end of the day I respect all of those junior leagues.
As a Red Wing fan I know Mantha & Zadina played in the Q. Cossa & Hanas play in the WHL. Buium & Mazur played in the U.
Most of the Wings other prospects of recent, and some of the best, played overseas in Sweden or Germany leagues.

Of course I expect extensions for Larkin & others but it's interesting how right now this team isn't tied down to almost anybody.

Leafs - A Different Approach
I don't think Mrazek or Detroit are a good fit for each other.
I think the trade is fair but might be better for a team like Chicago that can take a risk and wants picks to rebuild.
If Mrazek doesn't work out for them that's fine because it helps them tank for Bedard or another top prospect.
I know Toronto needs all of the cap space they can get but a buyout for Mrazek doesn't cost a lot per year.
