Gallagher Anderson overpaid

Gallagher is the most egregious example though. Ppl here really think hes a cap dump. He will never ever be traded, it would be a disaster for the locker room. Its laughable how clueless so many ppl here are with their charts and the JFRESH cult. I dont see how you replace him! They have so many young players in the lineup. You see how Xhekaj rubs off on Slafkovsky giving him so much freedom to run around on the ice meanwhile you have players like Wright that look sacred as hell

Obviously. It takes outlandish statements though here to make a point! Trading Anderson would just mean once the team is ready to contend, they'd be looking for another Anderson.

They arent trading Anderson. Again, missing the point of culture and team chemistry. Charts dont play on the ice, these analytics teams without actual hard work and determination never work, imagine a team with a bunch of Ondrej Kase on the squad! Anderson's at his age and pedigree you dont find. Even trading for a 1st doesnt replace his motor and leadership in the lineup. Besides the fact, he loves playing in Montreal. You see it on the ice with guys like Gallagher and Anderson rubbing off on Caufield hitting players like Tyler Myers and causing turnovers that lead to goals. Something many here that havent played the game and would sit out with a hangnail cant comprehend.

Hello Mr Anderson
Anderson suspension probably increased his value knowing GMs around this league. Mtl isnt having any money retained when they didnt retain on Petry. He's much younger than Petry, 5 year contract, be damned! He loves Mtl, he didnt ask for a trade like Petry. He will only be traded for an outlandish offer same as Toffoli and Lehkonen that, both, had team control in the following seasons. Same goes for Gallagher, team is building a culture with guys that play hard. Not becoming Edmonton or Buffalo! Culture and development is everything at the moment

You retain on Dadonov to maximize value and he goes to an actual contender, all this after Daddy actually produces which he isnt doing at this moment without any PP time but somehow playing shorthanded. He needs to start scoring like Mike Hoffman to even have his convo.
Wideman probably wouldnt even be picked upon waivers.

That is pretty much meaningless. These metrics change the goal posts on a monthly basis. Jfresh is an utter joke! I dont use these metrics as gospel lilke some do here as it shows they actually dont watch the product. Use it as a baseline, I agree with you!
You realize MSL was coaching PeeWee last year? This is a developmental coach not an NHL caliber coach. I really dont take a lot of these result seriously when you have a coach that has openly said hes learning on the fly!

Kirby's recent play with MTL has certainly tipped the scales in his favor quite a bit, but I still think it's possible.</div></div>
This is only scratching the surface of Kirby's talent. He wins board battles, excellent vision, his impeccable zone entries, his wing span creates so much offense just with his ability to reach pucks. That is quite the stretch. He's looking like another Getzlaf even if it's on the wing. I dont think they could have found a better option on the market to play with a smart player at center like Suzuki and a pure goal scorer like Caufield.

They cant send wifi down to the minors. He will probably be in and out of the lineup though. He's such a presence and the young kids love him! Slaf admitted as much that they feel safe with him back there and those giant mitts of his!
Matheson return will be interesting. They have to be working on some kind of deal. Kovacevic most likely goes down and Wideman on waivers.

Horvat to Colorado with an extension doesnt work
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>The_Rocket</b></div><div>A few obvious problems here:
1) avs would almost definitely trade girard before trading byram
2) byram could be bridged around $4 million (Dobson comp) so that would carve out an extra million
3) Horvat isn’t getting 8x8. In his dreams lol. 7x7 is more likely
4) that cap is probably going up $4 million, not $1 million.
By my math, you could easily come up with an extra $5 million in cap space if you’re more realistic with you signings, trades, and cap movement</div></div>
Girard being the fall guy has been obvious since last year. The disconnect here is obvious. Simply a luxury Colorado cant afford.

I warned Oilers fans about him
They were like hes gonna win the Vezina and be the last piece we need
Campbell is a very emotional goalie and when he gets in his own head he sucks. People said oh the pressure was down now that he was out of Toronto. WRONG
Edmonton arguably is putting more pressure on him as he is supposed to be the last piece they needed to win a cup
Well from the looks of things he could be a 5 year Anchor for those hopes
He should have taken less to tandem in Toronto with Samsonov as familiarity may have prevented this</div></div>
This started when they didnt sign Markstrom. Then the following year used that space for Duncan Keith instead. That Keith move will haunt them for so so long. Signing Barrie when Caleb Jones has the same role in Chicago at a low low price.

I agree that Edmonton need defender help. Not sure what you would change? Trade Barrie? Or is it left defense?</div></div>
I think many Oilers fans miss Koskinen at this point and would trade him for Campbell. Koskinen glove hand was always his achilles but Campbell is a new level of terrible. He's whiffed on some muffins from far out glove side, It's kinda shocking for a professional goalie.

I'm simply not a massive homer. I dont reject deals on sight without looking at the big picture. More should try it here instead of tribalism and this place would be more worthwhile to discuss trade options. Dont really get it especially Avs fans now with their ego going crazy about Horvat deals when they all have egg on their face after the Lehkonen deal. You'd think they would be more open minded but no!
Every trade offer tried should NOT to be made sense but to create discussion otherwise what are we even doing here, nobody here is a GM, we are throwing things at the wall!

I mean Barrie's isnt that bad of a deal. He's also not a positive value in this market tho unlike a few i wont say many Oilers fans claim. Most seem to realize now that a 3rd pair PP specialist on a team massively disappointing isnt going to leverage a return of any worthwhile

Then you include Newhook in the Horvat trade which has been mentioned countless times. Just because you don't want to give up Newhook in an ideal fashion doesnt mean it doesnt make sense. Canucks also arent trading Horvat to the Avs for little to nothing because of their cap situation. That's their business not Vancouver's so dont push the narrative that Horvat is worth less because of the Avs cap, that makes little to no sense. They willl create a market and if Colorado cant buy then that's their prerogative. You cant will your philosophy on other teams just cause it doesnt suit your own narrative thats not how trade markets function

Arziona isnt selling cheaper than their current ask otherwise he would have been moved after Jakob's comments in the offseason. They are dug in much like Sakic on Duchene back in the day. The urge to move him ASAP because of 'appearances' is over.
Top4 D come at a massive price. I dont see how its any less than this return price when you have defenceman like Romanov whos a maybe top4 going for the 13th overall pick in the past draft. Bourgault isnt at that level. Broberg looks like a bust and you'd have to include Bro just to move Barrie's deal. This is essentially a 1st (protected i hope) and another mid/late round 1st for Chychrun. Is it a lot? yes! But the Oilers need to do something here in McDrai window and this will be the price at a min for Chychrun

Barrie despite having a niche, is not worth his money and teams have no money for him without taking a bad contract in return so that makes him a negative value! You are trading at least a 2nd to simply move his contract forget getting anything worthwhile in return
