Definitely not a pylon, great skater for his size. Consistent 10+ goals. Agree San Jose wouldn't be the spot for him though.

I wouldn't be surprised if he came in under 4M. Feel if teams were willing to take him at that a deal similar to the Johansen one would've happened. Or Nashville just didn't wanna use all 3 of their salary retention spaces.

I really dont see Pesce who will be 29 early into next season and on an expiring contract due for a raise getting Bouchard, 24 early next year, who was fantastic in the playoffs. Broberg I can potentially see.

So by this logic I could make a Buffalo AGM trading Tuch for Pulijiarvi and since it came from a Buffalo AGM it’ll be realistic for Oilers fans to make the same trade?

The 3rd could definitely go out, figured that was pushing it a bit. Barrie I feel is a good gap filler for a year before he could be flipped at the deadline the following year for more future assets

Don’t really know how you can say Athanasiou was a bad trade after only 9 games. Also it’s likely EDM wouldn’t have picked Barzal, they were apparently in on Joel Erickson Ek

Just look at the stats man. Toronto’s are slightly better but Edmonton has much more versatility out of their guys.

Leafs vs Oilers whos the better team right now
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mhockey91</b></div><div>Dude Edmonton has awful depth.
Let’s just say their top 6 is:
AA-McDavid-Kassian
RNH-Drai-Yams
Their third line is
Ennis-Sheehan-Archibald
Both Sheehan and Archibald aren’t third line players.
Toronto’s third line of:
Johnsson-Kerfoot-Kap
Smokes it’s
Edmonton’s third line is probably the worst in the league among playoff teams. At least one of them.</div></div>
Ennis has had just as good if not a better season then Johnsson. Granted he was getting big minutes in Ottawa he played well in his stint with the Oil so far.
Sheahan vs Kerfoot, again not far off at all. Kerfoot had 1 more goal and plays PP. Sheahan and Archibald combined to form one of the top PK units in the league this year.
Archibald vs Kapanen, pretty even. I feel Kapanen gets perceived better just off name value. Again Archibald only 1 goal less and an elite PKer.
I don’t see a drastic difference in third lines.

I’d argue the contrary on that. They did have weak depth last season but Holland really addressed that. We have 10 double digit goal scorers to the Leafs 6. Adding Archibald, Sheahan, Athanasiou, Ennis, Neal and the emergence of Yamamoto are all part of why this years team is so much better than last’s. I’d argue Edmonton is one of the deeper teams in the league

I’d go:
Ennis-McDavid-Kassian
Nugent-Hopkins-Draisaitl-Yamamoto
Athanasiou-Sheahan-Archibald
Neal-Haas-Chiasson
Khaira rotating with Haas
Klefbom-Larsson
Nurse-Bear
Jones-Green
Benning rotating with Green

Realistic Approach
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BurgerBoss</b></div><div>There's a couple of things I'd change.
I can't really see Green re-signing, at least for that amount of money. Also I wouldn't give Bear that much money.
Also that ARI trade...it seems unlikely for them to retain salary AND take a unnecessary cap dump.
I mostly like what you've done here. But it gets pretty much f*cked if the salary cap won't rise, which is a considerable possibility due to the season getting suspended/ending prematurely</div></div>
Totally get where you’re coming from on these points. With Green my thought process was, he stays close to his hometown in the tail end of his career on a winning team. And he just came off making quite a lot of money with Detroit that it may not be his number 1 priority. But can definitely see him wanting to try and make as much as possible elsewhere in that case sign a depth guy for a 1x1 deal.
For Bear I did up the AAV quite a lot. The dollar amount may be better suited to a 7 year deal like Klefbom’s contract.
Arizona trade is fully dependent on the cap going up. Russell I wouldn’t say isn’t as much of a cap dump considering it’s his last year and would be easily moveable at the deadline or before. And if the cap does go up and Arizona doesn’t re-sign Hall they will have some money available that may make them okay retaining 2.5M for Stepan for a year.
Thanks for the input!

Ethan Bear has been fantastic. Big part of their success this year playing huge minutes. Especially if the cap does go up to the 85M range I’d fully expect Bear to get anywhere from $4.5M-$5.25M on a 5 year term.
